Im going to look at an 06 Expedition Eddie Bauer with the 5.4 engine. I believe its a 2wd. It has 52000 mi on it and if fully loaded. Ive agreed to a price of 17K for it if all is good when I go see it. OK...

Is there anything specific i need to ask, look at or know about his year and model before buying this vehicle.

Thank you in advance for your help.....

In January, I paid $11.700 for my 05 EB 4x4 with sunroof, rear entertainment and heated/a/c seats. Miles were a little high at 116k, but $5,300 more for 64k less miles and no 4x4. Seems high to me. Just be careful. If you do get it, change the plugs to the new style and do it soon before they stick and break in the holes. MAJOR PIA. Good luck.

I don't think that sounds real unreasonable. I am amazed that you found one with that low of mileage. Spark pulgs is one thing (debating this on mine currently at 63k), sway bar ends - common for breaking but inexpensive fix, make sure you check all functions of the front and rear ac, TPMS sensor - make sure the light is not on (it is petty but can cost dollars to get fixed properly, check to make sure all windows go up and down at a reasonable speed (regulators are another common problem). That is all I can think of right now, hopefully someone else will chime in. Since it is an 06, it will have the 4 speed trans which is tried and true but does not get the efficiency of the 6-speed in the following year. Hope this helps and if you have never owned an Expy - there is a good chance that it will be the last type of vehicle you will own, we absolutely love ours, Mike.

But you have an 04 with the 2v 5.4. No spark plug issues with those. This guys is an 06 with the 3v 5.4. Broken plugs are a big issue with those.

Thanks for the input fellas. Would I be better off paying a little more for an 07? I like the look of the 3rd gen but id be looking at another 2K for an 07 with more miles.

Depends on how many more miles and what type of options it has.

Check under the lip of the hood ,and the tailgate right above the license plate strip. These areas have a tendency to get aluminum corrosion bubbles. Other than that, the only issue I have had is a misfire due to a bad coil.
