Decided to make a one-stop shop for YouTube channels that promote Ford Expeditions primarily in a Overlanding/Camping/4-Wheeling role with several videos/mods/etc. PLEASE NOTE, some channels have not been updated in a while, or have moved onto other products.

**Moderators please consider making this a sticky?**

Should this be a sticky? If so, can someone contact a moderator for me or PM their name?

***Please note, I have no affiliation with these channels***

Kingdom Overlanding is most relevant to the 4th gen'ers in this group. The others are older gen Expys.

All the gens use BorgWarners automatic TOD system so the 4x4 system is pretty similar whether you have a 2003 or a 2020 Expedition if you take that alone. Obviously approach and departure angles as well as limited slips and traction control etc vary through the years. Really the 1st gens are the best for this stuff with the live axle, much better wheel articulation but none of the channels feature one. They are getting old these days. But a 1st gen with an aftermarket locker would really trump gens 2-4 for overlanding. Steel bumpers, live axle, shorter wheelbase.

Kingdom drives down dirt roads. As soon as the go off the road, the Expy gets stuck.

Watch his newer ones with the 2.5" lift and bigger tires. He doesn't get stuck, but now has a busted auto sidestep and ripped off rear bumper when it slammed against some rocks.

I think the one that you are referring to is when he still had stock tires. that instantly got buried in the sandy road.

Even the trail where he smashed his step and rear bumper panel are very tame off roading. They picked a terrible line, yes it was dark. But almost everything they do is pretty mild. It’s comical how he says he is doing alright keeping up with the Toyota’s. I could take a Camry every place he has been. He doesn’t seem to have much off road experience. Nothing wrong with that at all. He is getting his family out in nature and enjoying his rig. The Expy needs at least a 6” lift to get the huge body off the ground. The suspension and drive train work pretty good. Especially when you take the front sway bar off. If you have CCD’s, Sport works well firming up the suspension for the trails.

Well let's face it--none of these channels (I have no affiliation with these projects) are prefect, but ask anybody with a channel, it is a learn as you go job. I placed them here to show the handful of people using Expys for more than mall crawling or bumping into hybrid vehicles in Starsucks parking lots.

I wheeled my '97 almost as soon as I got it--first time owning a 4wdrive and yes, she was a lot tougher than these other gens. But ANY 4wd can be capable with first of all, the right driver. And the Expy is WAY more capable than a lot of other vehicles out there. I want my Expy to be a bit more capable off-road, and for sleeping inside of a vehicle type of camping/light overlanding? I consider it one of the better ones unless a solid axle Suburban strikes you as the answer.

Plus the fuel economy is amazing for her size. Empty last night the Bullet was getting 28-29 mpg average at 50-60 miles per hour at sea level, unladen, with A/C on. At 70 was getting over 27 mpg (as estimated by the onboard fuel meter).

Please, let's keep this thread geared towards what these vehicles CAN do--not what they can't. It is very obvious this is not a 2dr Jeep Rubicon, nor a Power Wagon.

YMMV--

Looking like it will be a go this winter for my lift and tires. I'm going with the ReadyLift 3/2 for CCD and 34" tires (285/70 R18s).

Talking to the place I will have do the work. They did one other 4th Gen. It was an XLT. They put on a 2.5" lift and ran 35x12.5 R22s on it. They said they needed to do very little trimming. Keep in mind this was a pavement princess lift, not anything off-road worthy, IMO.

From one of the pics you can see the IVD shock and UCA. He also has a killer stereo and duel battery’s.
