The statement given to me is that they were able to communicate with it and that it was showing codes for every system from throttle body to fuel pump and that Ford's direction in this scenario was to replace it. I had hoped it was a battery or alternator issue...
Dealer believes it is the PCM. Quote is $1050 installed and "there could be other things that were damaged when it failed and there is no way to tell till you have a different PCM." What do the knowledgeable here think of this diagnosis? Believable?
3/4 of a tank of gas (was filled up on Saturday) and the engine would not crank at all when having the issue, so I don't think it is gas. Not unless there is some sensor in the fuel system that disables the starter. Who knows...
Our 2007 Limited shut down on I-65 during rush hour traffic tonight. Wife had to fight to get the thing over to the shoulder thanks to traffic and no power steering. She turns it off and when she turns the key back on, the dash is going crazy, like it is running some diagnostic. Much more...
They have specific model units for certain brands of headunits, like Eclipse. Judging from what I saw when I looked around, it sounds like your headunit would be more of a limiting factor than the bus. Several different adapters show compatibility with the 07 Expedition but most do use the...
I'd probably go this route, personally:
Pac-Audio.com Product Details SWI-CP5
I love that the demo video is shot in a 2nd gen expy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMR1NKKqZGA&list=UUiVZ3USTrjvGk9wXN8uldog&feature=c4-overview
I believe on the 09 and newer you have to use the iDataLink Maestro. I believe the 07 and 08 can get away with using the PAC-SWIX, IIRC. Crutchfield should be able to confirm this. I'll check.
Edit
Crutchfield is listing the Maestro for the 07 as well.
I know the 2009 uses CAN for the steering wheel controls but I am unsure about the 2007. I would imagine it does have CAN but that doesn't mean the steering wheel controls are being routed through it.
Hopefully someone with more direct knowledge will chime in.
I had the dealership I was buying my 07 Limited from change them as part of the purchase agreement. Told them I would walk away from the truck if they didn't. They ended up breaking two of them. What is the PCM reflash you referenced? Does Ford have an update for the PCM or is it something...
I'm having the same exact vibration issue with my A/T3s in 275/70-18. Let me know how the road force balancing goes. The Sears where I bought mine at does not have a road force balancer but I couldn't justify going somewhere else with the deal Sears was giving me. It isn't a bad vibration but...
I went with a load rated tire so the ride is rougher. Feels more like a driving a truck. It isn't that harsh to be honest. Just not as soft as it was with the P metrics on there. I'll need to get more time before I can tell you how it effects the mileage. I tend not to daily it as I have a...
I got my new tires put on tonight. Took a before and after pic for those that are interested. Went with Cooper Discoverer A/T3's in LT275/70-18. Was a nice step up from the stock P255/70-18 Goodyears that were on it when I bought it. No rubbing on anything so far and fits nicely in the wheel...
Thanks for the info. I have a Pioneer AVIC sitting in the garage, but it doesn't feature dual zone and the Expy I bought has the rear seat entertainment option. I'll probably end up going aftermarket but just wanted to be knowledgeable of my options.
Thanks again for the info.
Is the nav unit from a 2009 plug and play in the 2007? I've searched and been unable to find a definitive answer here or on the web.
Thanks in advance,
James
