I'm sure everyone has heard of the gotts mod regarding the air filter snorkel on 97-01 expeditons, I just stumbled across it today for the first time I thought it was very cool if I didn't have a cold air intake I would def do it.

I also came across the zip tie mod which I found very helpful and did it today.

If anyone doesn't know what it is it involves tightening slack on the throttle cable, they tend to stretch over time.

I noticed in my expedition that the gas pedal would seem to be low, and if I put my foot under it I could lift it up a good cpl inches but it would settle back down to the lower position after letting go. This always bothered me, not just on this vehicle but any higher milage vehicle with a cable actuated throttle usually experiences this to some degree, at least it's always been that way for me.

After tightening up the slack the pedal is all the way back up to it's original position like when it was new and the gas pedal feel is much more pleasant, and responsive.

Also it didn't cost a penny so it's something within reach of everyone.

I'm assuming the zip tie mod? The pics I am posting right now are the pics from the link I found showing how to do the mod. I actually didn't do it the way it shows in the pics, i think that the f150 in the pics is a different generation because the throttle area looked a bit different, and there isn't enough of the engine showing for me to identify the engine.

I will take some pics of the throttle area right away on my truck and I'll post them up, my engine is a 5.4 triton with 347,000 kms, and my cable was stretched by at least 2".

I ended tying a knot in the throttle cable to make up for the slack, the cable is the perfect length after adding a knot. I also tightened the spring that pulls the throttle back to idle when you let off the pedal, I just pulled the spring by one end at the hook and wrapped the hook around the spot that it's hooked too, and that was all I needed to do, so no zip ties were needed in the end lol.

You can see the knot that I had made in the throttle cable, and if you look behind the throttle cable you can see the spring and how it's been pulled tighter.

Got my ScanGaugeII ordered and installed and I must say it's one of the best investments I've made mod wise for the benefit! I also recently removed the running boards and while I do like how it makes the truck seem taller, I'm not sure if I'm totally taken by the look or not. I think it needs to be taller
