There are some minor differences. In my 05 you had to be stopped to switch in to 4WD high or low and you can do that while rolling in the 17.
You can switch to between 2wd, a4wd & 4x4hi on the fly (under 55mph) in a 2005, 4x4low you have to be stopped and in neutral I've switched from A4WD to 4X4 Hi doing 50 before it switched immediately

Swapped one (1) sway bar link.... why? Because the damn thing took forever, everything that could go wrong did including the 8mm hex part shearing clean off...and by the time I got one done it got waaay too late to use noisy impact tools to do the rest.

Final victorious ghetto engineering technique: jamming the balljoint by shoving a wrench between balljoint and LCA

Happy New Year everyone! Well it was not today, but, I bought my third Expy on 12/29/17. Got disappointed with the cracked/leaking exhaust manifolds on my 97 and 2008 = sold. Between those I owned a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport, 2006 Honda Ridgeline, 2009 Tundra CrewMax, 2002 4Runner SR5, and now, 'back in the saddle' with a 2012 Expy XLT. Traveled for 2 days and 400 miles car shopping; was set on getting a Sequoia. Talked with a repair shop manager, and I agreed with him that the Sequoia is nice, but, more expensive to buy and repair. Got in a little hurry to get this 'best deal' 2012 XLT with 69,000 miles in Sterling Gray Metallic, and disappointed that it does not have the factory tow pack. In reading the original Ford brochure, tow pack includes 7 pin trailer connector, heavy duty radiator and transmission cooler. I guess I will be upgrading those parts in the future. Happy trails.
