I have an 04 expedition and after I do the gotts mod or install a CAI my next project will be the exhaust. What are ya'll running for exhausts - and how happy have you been with them? Anyone running duals (not sure if you can on an Expy or not - Im newto expeditions)...

I have a local custom exhaust shop that does good work so I'll probably go through them but just wanted to hear from others experiences.

Depending on price, and what I have for $$$, Im going to explore cat back systems, or a new system with a high flow cat. Id love to go with headers as well, but not sure if I have that much to spend...

second gens are hard to do a dual exhaust due to the IRS. it can be done if you have a good exhaust shop who is willing to it. You can delete your spare tire and go over or as Knautical2001 has done and go under rear suspension. I have an 03 with a spintech catback DI/SO with an xpipe. here is a video so you hear how exhaust sounds

Removed cats

I got a 04 with a 4.6L with a after market exhaust ( not sure what it is, was on there when I got it) I had the cats removed ( all 4 of them) and had 2 glass paks put on it, and oh man!!!!! I LOVE THE SOUND OF IT!!!!! It sounded like a Mustang with the after market exhaust on it ( which wasnt bad ) but now it ROCKS!!! I THINK I might be gaining some gas mileage but wont know until next fill up. I know I know, its a EXPO and its not suppose to get any gas mileage!!!ahahahha!!! I see guys on here complaining about only getting 15 or 16 MPG, I would give my left nut to get that good of mileage. My last check was 12MPG and I am doing EVERYTHING there is other then a programmer. If anybody knows where I can get some cheater o2 sensors let me know, Im getting a check engine light. Last check on scanner wasnt showing a lean mix or anything like that.

I have had the Magnaflow cats back for about 5 years now and my only complaint is that tip pitted real bad. The tone is great for a family vehicle and there really isn't a lot of cruising drone either. I am seriously thinking about swapping out the X pipe to get rid of the rear 2 cats one day though. I think that would help to give it a little more rumble.

A " little " exhaust work

Hey FREEMAN, no video on sound, not sure it would do it justice. Still havent filled up yet to check MPG but there is NO DOUBT my MPG has gone up. I have been really taking it easy to see what my MPG will be like but it is sooooo hard to do, it sounds sooooooooo good!!!! I raced this little friken rice burner car the other night ( yeh I know hes getting 5 times the MPG I am ) and holy shit when I lit it up I about messed myself from the sound as Iam sure my little Kamikaze pilot racin me did too, it was SWEET!!!! I am about to hit a 100 miles on this tank of gas and it hasnt burned a 1/4 of a tank yet, thats unheard for my ride!! Im running a KN filter and was burning SHELL premium but have switched to SHELL regular trying to save me from having to sell my house so I can afford to keep driving the EXPO.

You got a sweet ride there too!!

ah. so if you only delete one set of them they still will kick off a SES light? even with highflow replacments after the stock primarys? i havnt gotten a look under yet but how are the O2 sensors arranged? do the rears only read post catylist performance or do they do more? i am getting ride of that stock trash can under there though lol that thing is HUGE!! lol

from my understanding it depends on where the 02 sensors are located...and im not sure if the rear sensors only read performance or how much is burned

I know on the 4.6 the O2 sensors are before and after the 1st pair of cats on both banks. So nothing is measured on the 2nd pair of Cats. But as many of you have seen. All 4 cats are required here in California... land of the air Nazis.

I have the 40 series flow master with a resonator. Not super loud because of resonator but we travel to Mexico a lot and I don't wanna travel 11 hrs of a loud exhaust. And we have kids ImageUploadedByTapatalk 21365365039.132987.jpg
