I like mine. Rented a 2013 navigator when I was building my house a few times in AZ. I really wanted a navigator but it's basically the same as my limited besides the exterior look

Quite a few differences between the navigator and the expedition, the majority of the running gear is the same save the transfer case but the navigator has a better radio, nice HID lights, and is much easier to find with a the rear air suspension than the expedition.

I purchased my King Ranch for one reason, it was a stellar value. After a year I can trade it in and unless gas goes way up be almost where I purchased it new.

To answer the question, this is my second gen 3 expedition but my first personal one. I like the King Ranch, I looked at a few limited's but wasn't sold on the looks and the leather just felt cheap, well like vinyl.

Thoughts on the 2013 King Ranch 4x4:

Plus:
Good brakes
Decent Steering
Good Value (Fleet buyer so varies vs average consumer)
6 speed is smooth
3rd row can actually fit adults.

Bad:
Awful engine
cheap interior trim even in King Ranch trim, too much plastic
marginal sound system
marginal fuel economy for power

I can tell you when I switch cars with my wife and drive her QX56 I notice a difference. I think there has to be a happy medium between cranking out volume and a quality product. The expedition is close to that quality product and I think that the next model will get them to the that goal.

Mine has just as good of a radio as the navigators I rented. Like I said the exterior is the main difference like you said HiDs. I didn't much look for one with air ride but as far as options go the limited I have has everything the navigator had. Auto running boards, navigation, sunroof, leather, power fold seats, ac heated seats front heated rear.
But none the less my point is I like my expeditions more than other cars I've owned. We use the expedition as a family car primarily.

Someone with a 3rd gen Expedition needs to loan it to me for a couple of weeks so I can vote.

I would treat it as if it were my own. :hmm:...... OK.... maybe that's not such a good idea.

I would drive it very responsibly, Honest!! :angels2: lol....

And if you were ever curious as to what it runs in the 1/4 I can let you know upon its return....:flamingdevil:

I like my 07. I got it to pull out 29' (at the time) travel trailer. So far it has taken us anywhere we have wanted to go. Now we gave a 30' TT. It still pulls it without a problem. It's an XLT with all the packages available at the time. It's comfortable enough that the family (me, my wife, 2 teenagers, and an Old English Sheepdog) can pull the TT for 12 hours. I can pull the troop trailer for our Boy Scout troop and take 8 of us anywhere the troop wants to go, any time of the year. I didn't buy it with the expectation that it it a luxury vehicle. I didn't buy it for gas mileage. So far it's been the perfect vehicle for my needs.

I agree with the above. The only thing I wish was different was engine options. It's time to offer the Eco-Boost, the 5.0 and possibly a Diesel

I am guessing it will be low 14s high 13s once the whipple is on. I will say I am disappointed that I can not get a Corsa for this. Magnaflow seems to be the best option at the moment.

God help us if they put the eco-turd in these. They need to slap the 6.2 in these and move on. With GM's new '15 Denali and Caddy coming with big power ford has to step up their game.

The LAST thing the Expy needs is an option that gets WORSE gas mileage. The 6.2 makes great power, but sucks at the pump.

At least the Eco-Boost tried to fix the MPG issue

There is not a single negative thing I can say about my truck. The 5.4 is a beast, the 6 speed geta great mileage as well as the shifting is spot on for the engine and it hauls anything I could need. I could go on and on but you get the point.

Big horsepower does not mean big fuel consumption. Case in point again the QX. 400+ hp and 2 mpg better fuel economy. Corvettes, regularly achieve 28+ mpg on the highway cruising.

I agree. But the motors you are talking about are not those motors. The 6.2L gets WORSE! The Corvette gets great mileage... but it is a Sports Car, not a large SUV. Apples to Oranges. Ford consistently gets the WORST mileage in the segment.

A buddy of mine had a Raptor with the 6.2 and was getting around 13mpg around town. Which is what my Expy gets on a good tank. When the 6.2s first came out I ran into a guy with a new super duty with the 6.2. He loved it and was getting 14 or 15mpg towing a 20+" box trailer. I don't see the 6.2 as a step down.

your thoughts are all wrong but that's ok. I can assure you the 6.2 will get better fuel economy, it's a matter of laws all other things being equal.

I get low 20s hauling the family in my 5.4 in the summer time with the ac on and it still has plenty of power on tap. What more could you ask for out of a 6000lbs truck BEFORE load???? I was near the 1800+ load limit coming it at 8000ish lbs. No complaints AT ALL.

Reason Im so glad I got my 2008 is I got in before they ditch the tried and true 5.4. It works and to give up that up for 1-2MPG is just not worth it.

EDIT: my poll answer is given the expedition still runs the 5.4 modular...

My 07 EB EL 4x4 has been generally rock solid hauling our minions (+ friends at times) from Maine to FL for many years. I've seen 18-20+ on the highway loaded up.

Can't ask for anything more than that.

I think about the only thing I would change is the instrument panel. I don't much care for all of the big chrome bling around the gauges and I would move the temp and fuel gauge where the useless oil pressure and volts gauges are located.

Everyone posting about the 6.2 says 13 mpg. I've heard numerous reports saying 10mpg. My 5.4 gets 16 ALL DAY.... in the city. So... As far as I see it, I am not wrong. The 6.2 is a worse option.

I agree on the chrome. There is just too much chrome on this truck.

I kinda wonder what the acceleration and towing a 6.2l would provide, but I never understand why people want to get rid of the 5.4???? Such a tried and true platform that in its current state performs wonderfully in just about every environment. Hell I climbed the Appalachian mountains with a full load like it was nothing and got well over 18mpg.

My 5.4 gets a whopping 10ish in the city. My friends raptor get's better fuel economy (13 to 16) than my expedition and is about equal in weight but with worse rotational mass and similar gearing (32" tire with 3.73s vs 34.5" tire with 4.10s).

The 6.2 would equal or improve the expedition fuel economy barring no other changes or weight increases.
