Okay, the prev owner didn't take care of the alloy wheels on my 97 expy. the weights corroded into the wheels and there are black specs all over the ones that were on front. so..IMO they are ruined. I sanded and painted my spare wheel today for practice and used it to create a test to see if I like the look better.

I like the steel ones to be honest but I want to go with something that looks good to a large amount of people should I decide to sell in the future.

here's the deal with mods...as far as looks go...its ALL UP TO U!!! why do you care what others think? if you like it do it...that's the beauty of cars/trucks...everyone doesn't like everything and it doesn't matter becuz you like it and you will hear "not my style or I wouldn't do it that way" a lot...I do/go to car shows...what one person likes...the guy standing directly next to him wont like...again...this is free expression to give your truck the identity you want it to have or the extension of your personality...

so do what you want...becuz I will tell everyone that's looking to put rims on their truck to by 24s and 26s...and their are ppl on here that will say its pointless...useless...and doing so isn't using the truck properly as it was meant to be used...I went from factory 17s...to 24s...to 26s...and I will be putting 28 inch rims/tires on my truck...that's my style and no one can tell me otherwise...

so do what you want...don't worry about what other ppl will like...

I take a lot of flak for having plasti-dipped wheels and trim, etc. I think it looks better than chrome, so screw those guys haha. I do like the look of the steelies though.

Well, I like the amount of chrome she has right now. not too much to look gaudy

I think I will try to find a set of four rims like the one I pictured above. can't really go to a wrecker though as they will all likely be too rusty. found one for 59 per wheel online.

Totally agree why do people always ask what others think when it the long run its all up to what you think Seems like a lot of wasted time asking for opinions about looks

I agree. It is my truck and I can do what I like. I just like to talk about what I am planning. Sometimes people can add to it and possibly help me out if I am missing something.. I will wait a couple weeks then order the wheels so I can try to find some cheaper.

That's the point. As you will do what you like. So why bother to ask what others would do when it is all up to you. Now asking for opinions or advice about repairs is a totally different matter

I think what he is saying is sometimes people bring up an option he might not have considered. So for that reason it is worth putting it out to the world and seeing what it says.

Exactly. Where I showed I want these wheels. Someone else could know of a better option

OK I got it, as it appears you put the wheels on the hubs and you wanted to know if they could go somewhere else. I guess that would be an option

well, it wasn't to say where the wheels would go. also, I was a bit too lazy to actually dismount the oe wheel for the pics ;) i just used a zip tie to hold the hubcap onto the wheel and rolled it to look like it was on the truck for a comparison pic.

it's going to cost me a bit to get the wheels in good condition so it's more of a case of "am I sure I want to?"

I apologize if I am wasting anyone's effort by posting this.

What Freeway said- make it your own. A future buyer can change it if he doesn't like it. I think the black ones with your trim level works well and it's a bit different from stock. I need to do a few things to mine to make it stand out, it's dead stock right now and I see twins to it all the time.

If you go looking at the yards, check for spares. They all used steelies for spares and many never have hit the ground. You may be able to piece together a set much cheaper. Good luck with it, your Expy has come a long way. :favorites13:

I am currently looking for a set of 17" steels myself right now, Preferably in black.

That said, I am kicking myself for missing out on a set 17" navigator alloys. They were a good deal ($200 for a full set with cosmetic damage), but I contemplated too long and someone else jumped on them.

So, if anyone'd got a set of 17x8 steels let me know...

Ohhh, that is tempting.

I guess I will have to do a bit of research to see what cost to ship to the great white north look like.

Thanks for the offer
