Thought I would relay my experiences since purchase of my 2011 2wd XLT.

First issue was the paint on the tailgate. It has been painted 4 times and is again beginning to peel around the light cover and at the fold. The dealer I went to in Ohio was cool about it the first three times, but they are equally frustrated. Fair warning to those aluminum body truck owners. Dealer told me the trucks were made of a new "non-corroding alloy". I am not a student of metallurgy, but his response to why my tailgate apparently was not made of this new miracle alloy received only a blank stare.

Then the back wiper went out. Apparently the drive wheel lost a tooth or two. Repair pending.

Then the driver's window ground to a halt. This was followed shortly thereafter by the passenger window falling loose. Repair in progress.

About a week after arriving in Houston from Cleveland, the front brakes fell off. Total caliper failure with the pistons driven into the caliper. That was interesting with only 80,000 miles and replaced pads. In my opinion, noting the condition of the old pads, the OEM calipers were creating a severe uneven wear pattern and the inside pads wore much faster than the outside ones. When the failure occurred, the outside pads had about 1/3 of the material left on them. No, it did not squeak or grind.

It has also had routine hesitation and surging, which I have not yet even gotten to for diagnosis. I read in another post that a tranny flush and cleaning may help this issue. What the heck...someday.

Recently, the passenger windshield wiper post came loose from the motor actuator arm while driving in the rain. Seems Henry's progeny decided to hang the actuator arm below the post arm, rather than set it on top like everyone else and used only a thin rubber grommet to hold it rather than a clip. New motor and arm unit is in route. Rain now is truly hazardous.

More recently, the ABS and Advancetrac systems are on the fritz (the subject of my most recent post). I won't be surprised if the entire back axle has to be replaced.

Thanks to the forum for providing a place to lay my Ford sole bare. It will probably make me feel better too...right up until I try pulling out the window regulator.

Damn and I thought I had it bad with my 2011. So far, the following has failed on my 2011 in 6 months of ownership w/ 90K on the clock:

- driver side running board assembly (~$1,800 for part only)
- passenger side running board assembly (~$2,000 for part only)
- climate controlled seat module (failed twice)
- climate controlled seat relay
- blower motor
- seat track
- seat memory module
- timing chain cover leak
- oil pan leak
- rear strut "catastrophic" leak
- driver side window motor (replaced by Ford w/ previous owner)
- paint bubbling under hood (repaired by Ford w/ previous owner ... improperly)
- paint bubbling/peeling on tailgate
- paint bubbling/peeling on roof
- paint peeling on mirrors

Last Ford.

Misery loves company.

My wife removed half the passenger running board with a boulder that was carelessly placed in someone's yard to guard against drivers. The driver's sear climate control module is on its way out. It works occasionally.

This is probably my family's 8th Ford and may likely be my last. I was even considering a GM...maybe.

This is my 5th and will definitely be my last. It's not just the problems that have left a bad taste in my mouth, but also how Ford has responded to them. I'm considering GM, but will likely go Toyota.

p.s. When I stopped at the dealership today to check on my truck, I discovered that one of the keypad buttons went out since I dropped it off. Add another part failure to the list. The keypad on my Mountaineer was still going when I sold it at 15 years of age.

My fobs are working thankfully. I noticed yesterday when messing with the heater controls that something inside the panel started popping rather loudly, like something was stuck and the motor to turn it was continuing to try to move it. Item 37 on today's glitch list.

My experiences with Ford were no better than yours. I remain very disappointed at their level of support for their products. Quality is Job 1 is certainly not the slogan any longer.

I won't buy Japanese. Depending on what the wife wants, either a Dodge pickup or a small Audi SUV. It is depressing just to say it.

I went to pick up my truck (again) and discovered that it sprung an AC compressor oil leak during its time at the dealership. Timing belt, tensioner, pulley, and battery also need replacement. Lastly, there is a whistling noise when the blower is on 4 or 5 that the tech has been unable to track down.

The 2015 Toyota Tundra actually has more American parts than the 2015 Ram 1500. ;)

Makes my 2008 with 150,000 miles on it not look so bad. Major things I have had to do:

- Spark Plugs
- Both differential seals
- Both front axle shaft seals
- Both front window regulators replaced
- Brakes and rotors on all 4 tires
- Replace all 3 idler pulleys and belt tensioner

Besides the paint bubbling and drivers side power running board everything works great. I turn the running boards off in the winter and back on in the summer when I can spray them with lube a couple times a week.

Ya'll are scaring me. I've got a 2012 with about 65K on it. So far, been great. The windows seem like they struggle to go up and down, but nothing major has failed other than the shocks. Hopefully I got a good one?

Fingers crossed. I've never had a vehicle with so many problems let alone one that I've only had for 7 months. I will, literally, never buy another Ford. Ever.
