on my 2011 expedition limited max, the driver side seat heater doesn't work. When I press the button the light comes on and the blown cones on as well. But after about 10 seconds it shuts off. At that point neither the heated or the cooled seat functions will work? The cooled one does work when it's pushed first. Passenger side all works fine. Is my element bad? Can I pull a fuse and reset something? Thanks in advance. This is a new to me vehicle.

There is a 40A fuse under the hood in the Battery Junction Box for the DCSM (Dual Climate-controlled Seat Module). The module is always on, so they never get to reboot. If there's a problem, often times pulling this fuse for a couple of minutes and replacing it can fix it.

I'm having similar issues and I've seen this tip a few times but whenever you take the fuse out, should the car be on or off? I imagine that if you take it out while it's off then turn it on it would work but I'd like to be sure

Doesn't matter. On or off, it will still cut power to the DCSM which is the goal.

Thanks for the reply. I pulled the fuse, and the next time I tried it it seemed to work but cut out after about 30 seconds. Any other ideas?

If you have FORScan you can pull codes from the DCSM and it will tell you what's failing. Usually it ends up being the heat/cool module and it needs to be replaced. If it's one seat only sometimes it's a frayed wire.

Just ordered the ohp brand elm327 plug so I will try that. Also ordered a new motor for my driver side power running board. Gears are stripped. Thanks for all the help guys. Will update when I hopefully get it fixed.

Also I may try unplugging either the seat cushion or the seat back element, one at a time, and then seeing if it still trips itself out. At least I can isolate were the issue is then.

Slightly OT, but would this 40a DCSM fuse also control the heating element in the rear passenger seats? Left seat switch light flashes then goes out instantly... no heat to that side. 2014 LTD.
