I'm pretty sure I'm buying a set of Kuhmo STX's in 305 50 20 to put on my silver FX4 20's. Anyone have experience with this tire? I like the tread pattern and the wife drives the expedition for the most part.

Kuhmo

Hey maynard,

I put some Kuhmo's on my wife's 2004 Expy and they are great! Low noise, great traction and for being about 2 years old, they show little wear!

I live in the Raleigh, NC area, and we get heat to deluges to ice and they are great in all of it. I'm relatively new to the area, but most folks here use Michelin tires - and at the Ford dealership, where I bought the Kuhmo's, they said that Michelin has the east coast's loyalty and Kuhmo and Yokahama has the west coast.
Be that as it may, I paid less for my 4 Kuhmos than my dad's smaller Michelins and I am happier with my purchase than he is with his...

I know this post is about 2 months behind your question, but maybe, if you have already got 'em, you'll feel better about your purchase after reading this.

P.S.
I think they look tough for a non-off-road tire, too...

I like the BFG AT's for my truck but I use Kumho Ecsta ASX
on my focus SVT and they handle great.

Very "grippy" tires good for cornering / braking with long tread life.

Post some pic's when you put them on! :)

I am by far NOT a tire expert but, I got a set of TOYO PROXES ST tires for my '06 Expy. The set cost me about $820 (which I thought was a good deal). Before these I had a set of Hankook tires that were brand new when I bought my ride & I was severely disappointed in them, to say the least. I only put around 20,000 mi on 'em and they wore down to damn near metal. Again, I'm not an expert so maybe this is normal for a low pro tire on a big SUV...???...
Anyway, has anyone heard anything about TOYO? Good/bad/indifferent?

Lemme know

(BHSOULJA seems to have really good input)

I have Kuhmos on my '05 after reading somewhere that for year round mud & snows, they were the closest things
to dedicated snows like Bridgestone Blizzacks. I'm used to having a set of those on smaller dia rims for the winter and a seperate set of longer wearing M&S performance
tires for the rest of the year. The Kuhmos haven't failed as good year round, single set tires for me in the Northeast. They are made in Vietnam.

I have kumho ecsta street tires in 285/50r20 on my 2000 Eddie Bauer. Live right near San Francisco, so never see snow, won't go off road, so work fine. Got a killer deal on four take offs, I jumped on these. Can't speak for the At's but if their like my street tires, I'd go for it.
