Sounds like their originally priced just a bit above the F150 Lariat, their mid model. When I looked into a new one with the Coyote 5.0 motor, leather, top stereo, and 20 inch wheels, and chrome plastic, it was coming up around $42,000 here in Bay area. I guess the XL is like a step up on the Expedition. Moving into King Ranch territory. It amazing how much their trying to screw us on the older ones, when you buy an almost new one for under $40k. And the dealer or used lot will finance almost anyone.

Huh?

The XL (=SSV) is the lowest priced trim in existence.

Also a decently equipped V8 F150 currently runs more like 50-60 grand

If you read the fine print at the bottom of the ad it says it’s 54k with included options. Normal car selling bait ad.....

$54,895.00? Is that the number you are talking about?

Thats the base price on the original window sticker. From when it was NEW, but its now being sold as USED - dealer lists that as a courtesy. Base price is the original price of the vehicle less any options, destination, or delivery. Thats one hell of a signature line of vehicles you've owned. You've never seen the base price before options on a Monroney?

Monroney is the sticker Adieu claims the dealer is lying about in post 10. He backs his statement up with nothing.

I don't know how this dealer could be any more transparent. They have a link to the original window sticker, with the MSRP, the ad tells you the original MSRP incase you don't want to look at the sticker, and yet doubters are still ******** on it?

Flexpedition: That's my point. Shocking how much the value dropped in less than one year with a few hundred or thousand miles used. Plus that's advertised "asking" price, which you can usually get lower with negotiation.

Within another year and value drop, assuming no major flaws appear in these revised models, it may be worth upgrading to the new motor, body and transmission. I like getting basic vehicle with the same engine/transmission as the high up models. Less to go wrong over time.

Now the paranoid side of says "who turning in a vehicle with less than 1,000 miles on it"? Was it problem vehicle Ford bought back before the lemon law was applied and fixed it?

The XLs listed show 5 seat package. What's that and like the OP asked can a third row seat be added later? For me I don't require it and like they have the HD towing package and skid plates included. I'll take that trade off.

Ford leads the pack with massive first year depreciation. With the warranties available today, there's little reason to buy new unless you have money to burn.

The folks I know with real crazy-big money never buy a car new. That's why they have big money.

Only a matter of time until one shows up in a junk yard with a third row seat you can switch out with all the filler panels. Those things are rarely used so you'll find one mint with everything for a few bucks. Same for anything else you may want to install in that XL.

Don't tell the millionaire executives at my company...I wouldn't want them to feel bad about the $100k+ cars they all buy and drive.

I feel like any thread remotely related to price comes back to this point eventually.

Some people want to spend money on cars...some don't. Neither is wrong, it's just a different way of thinking. Sure, I could have taken the money I spent on the Platinum and put it in the markets or a coffee can in the back yard, but that logic can be extended to anything...do I need a 4th bedroom? do i need to wear name brand clothes to the office? do I need to buy Clorox bleach instead of store-brand? Do I need to fly business class instead of coach? Nope, but I want to.

Bottom line: if you want to spend money to buy a new vehicle, and you can afford to do so (very important point here)...GO FOR IT!!! There is definitely value (to me anyway) in getting a car that hasn't been thrashed by someone else and doesn't have a seat cushion full of some other guy's farts.

The people working whether directly or via a vendor or service provider or support staff to build those new vehicles are very happy you do. Some folks (not referencing anyone on this thread) do forget that part.

I bought a 2018 xl with 300 miles on it for 38k.
Pretty pleased with the deal we got.
I bought a set of third row seats from a totalled Max. I need seat belts and harnesses to complete. Will post pics once I begin the mod. Probably later this summer.
