You know I joined this forum because I love my Ford Expy and I want to know more about it. Here we can share our experiences with others to save money and get the best performance out of our trucks that we can.
I very much liked what you had to say on this thread the first time but, saying the same thing over and over without new input or new evidence just makes me question what you said the first time.

P S If you are not going to buy another Ford that is your loss. If you are going to put down Fords, turn in your membership and spread your hate somewhere else.
Spreading hate? WTF? Ford Deserves to be 'put down', just like Chevy did with the Vega, Olds diesel, Cadillac 4,6,8 and lousy 'northstar' with bad head bolts(plenty of nice devilles. eldorados, junked). Consumers paid a price for bad design. We all should stay informed.

Staying informed is what you first posted. Spreading the hate is what you just posted.(I liked it for proving my point)
If you don't know the difference I can't explain it to you.

I believe he is referencing your lack of knowledge on a vehicle that is years ahead of yours and the fact that you read a few things online and have a narrow minded perspective on this issue and constantly tell everyone else who owns this vehicle that they are wrong bc it’s not what you read

I never told anyone, they are 'wrong'. Its an open forum and free country, last I checked. Much of the info, I read, was in this FORUM. Lokiwolf, doesn't own one either, but still puts in his 2 cents. I stated before and stand by it, I researched this problem, while considering buying a 2015. Even the service rep at the dealer said, wait for the injector change.

Your reading comprehension skills are SEVERELY lacking!

I have owned a 15 Limited EL(Totaled) and currently own a 17 Limited EL! Do I need to send you a copy of the registration with my name on it?

My wife drives it as her daily, but I own it and have driven both more Miles than her. We use it for family trips with me behind the wheel. I daily a 2.7L EB 16 Edge Sport. It has 31K on it, because it is not used on long trips.

Thanks for trying...Again, in addition I have had my actual hands on many EB motors of various sizes, and miles.

Here’s the Expy:

Here’s the Edge:

Here’s the port I have used in the past for cleaning on 150’s:

On most of the 150’s it is just a short hose capped off. On ours it looks to have a vacuum line of some sort. I am going to use it when I do mine and see how it works. I will investigate what it does first.

Wow. This thread got long. And useless!

Well, mostly useless. Not entirely.

Good news! I changed my tranny fluid last night with amsoil merc lv and today i did the rear with with a msoil 75w90 severe gear. I'll do the front end and the center diff another day with more time.

Still planning on doing the CRC cleaner sometime and i will be adding a jlt separator and using full synthetic 5w30 from now on. Who knows whats in it now.

I agree with both of you on this issue. It's okay to State your opinion on vehicles but when you have no actual real world experience with them you have to defer to the others who do. On the other issue for spreading hate, pointing out the manufacturer's flaws and saying it's ridiculous is not spreading hate. I completely agree on the Northstars and won't own one because they are time bombs. Same with GM and their TCC solenoid. Far too many failures and they don't care. Then we have for that took forever to get rid of the stupid plastic manifold that always broke on the four sixes. Lame lame lame. I love calling out manufacturers for what they do wrong and for how long they did it wrong.
The best thing we can do is spread the word like this and the word gets out earlier as opposed to later and the manufacturers will fix more problems.

How much of a pain was the tranny? I switched to 5w30 synthetic the other day as well. Plan on doing the others too. Let us know how you mount the JLT can cause I thought I read here somewhere it won't mount where the F150 has it without mod. I want to add the JLT too and was thinking of just shortening the bracket. CRC cleaner will be later this week.

The tranny was slightly more of a pain than i thought it would be but it ended up ok. I just took off the line behind the grill that leads into the cooler and had that drain into a bucket. I tried just filling unto the other line but it didnt want to drink it from there, so i just kept adding it to the pan from above with a hose and a funnel. It ended up being a 3 man job. One guy would run it and turn it off when we said and one would add while the other held the funnel. I ended up not changing the filter. I may down the road, but really its just a screen to stop big crap, not really a traditional filter.

But I had 13 qt and it worked out great. Did it last night at a buddies and I checked it again today when i did the diff and my levels were spot on and it has a much better color now! Hahah It disnt smell too bad but it was starting to get a touch of the burnt smell and it was getting a fair amount of brown to it.

Mine has 167k and its a '15. Ford doesnt recommend evening changing the fluid til 150k. I imagine i am one of the first to do it on an ecoboost expedition.

And the oil seperator peobably wont be for a few months. Theres a thing called a budget. Lol

I still need to change the front diff oil, tcase oil, and flush the coolant as well. Then i want to take off the intercooler and clean it out with some gas and then i will start with some simple mods like the oil seperator, intake, and a tuner.

I want to get the best mileage i can out of this thing. On my semi its all about maintenance and my philosophy is "expensive oil is still cheap insurance." But i worked at a truck/ auto/ tire shop for 11 years so ive seen firsthand many a time what sheer neglect will do to a car. Ive rebuilt motors and you can instantly tell which engines were cared for and which weren't.

Before Pennzoil came out with the platinum oil i would have said never touch pennzoil either, but i digress.

Ive never been a huge amsoil fanboy either but they have some really good formulas in their newer stuff and my local napa carries it and i get everything at my business discount rate anyway. The 5w30 signature stuff has piqued my interest. Its specially formulated for gdi engines. Im not a "once a year oil change" kinda guy, but i could see stretching it out to 6 or 7k possibly with analysis.

Also thinking about deleting the muffler and putting a side turnout after the rear wheel. Is this a thing people do?

I did the rear resonator delete and dumped it out the side rear, almost like a axle dump

Yeah that! Any pictures? Im thinking of using the factory tip even so it looks clean. Just want to cut down on backpressure a bit. Anything to let it breathe a bit better.

I was thinking of just making 4" Y back exhaust ans jist putting in a semi muffler but that seems a bit overkill.

Also, do you have to have it tuned if you run an intake or an exhaust?

I know companies like S&b and banks will calibrate things so they wont cause a cel, and honestly those are the only two companies i would consider. But is it liable to hurt anything if i want to do hardparts first and then a tune? And honestly I just want it to be a mileage tune anyhow. I realize power would go up, but durability and mileage are my goals.

Not sure you’ll find anything other than k&n (which is what I have and love it) or air raid for intakes. I did I take and a custom 93 tune. Technically you don’t really need a tube for Intake or exhaust but a custom tuner would take those into account when calibrating to make the best of them. Here is my axle dump with 4-1/2” tip.

In addition, a mileage tune IMO isn’t worth it bc they pull the boost way back and shorten the shifts points and there is a huge power loss. Better off going with a mild perf/tow tune.

I was just on s&b's website the other day and they have a pn for the expedition, and all of the testing protocol has been released, but it did still say "coming soon."

But actually i just now checked again and it is listed for sale! #75-5130 is the pn for 15-17 expeditions.

And youre probably right about the tune in regards with a "mileage tune."

Other cars ive turned up over the years actually still got better mileage in higher power, as long as you just dont drive like a maniac. So yeah i guess if there are say...3 levels of power I would probably just keep it in "tow" all the time and not "race."
