Finally got appointment with dealer
Went in yesterday
Had to leave it overnight for what should be 15 minutes of diagnosis time
Dealer had to call ford tech to diagnose problem
Dealer finally called this morning
Had to order a new WACM
Same diagnosis I gave the dealer when I went in yesterday
Oh well:sad72:

I know this is a old post but whatever happened with your wireless charger issue? I just started to use mine for the first time an I’m getting the exact same message.

I find the key is to put the lower edge of the phone on the stops at the bottom of the pad and then let the top fall in.

I’ll mess around with positioning, mine is a little different since it’s a Navigator but I figure the messages are the same so whatever the problem is likely similar.

Had this start to happen the other day. Worked fine with my iPhone XS, but moved on to the iPhone 12 Pro. Wife’s 12 Pro does the same thing. Was thinking it might be phone related and not charger related. I gave my mom my XS so I can give it a try and see if it is related to different phone or if the charger is on the fritz.

Mine does it pretty regularly and I'm on a Pixel 3, it usually works for a few minutes and then I get the same error. Honestly, I think it's just a shoddy design, really wish there was a rubber piece that would hold the phone physically against the rubber a little better. I use a wireless charger in my home all the time with no issue, at all, and even portable wireless chargers. I think just even bumps in the road screw it up.

Idk about the expy but in the Navigator it sits at such an angle that movement is next to impossible, especially given the size of the iPhone 12max that I’m sticking in there.

That definitely looks more convenient than the expy. I don't have huge hands but it seems kind of a pain to reach into the expy cubby to get phones out. I still wish it was like the Yukons with the charging pad in the armrest, way more convenient and it lays flat which likely helps with Qi Charge.

The iPhone 12 with a MagSafe Apple phone case will not allow the wireless charger to work. The magnet interferes with the wireless charger.

I would suspect it wouldn’t. I have a thin clear case, wife has a thin case as well. They work fine with the Qi charging pads we use at night and my Anker Qi stand. Traveling for work, haven’t been able to test again with the 12 Pro vs old XS...

Well, hell... this would be my issue. I’ll take the case off and see how it does. Thankfully, I’ve been able to go an entire day and not need any juice so hopefully that will continue for a while and I won’t need to charge in the car.

This ... I only use the charger on road trips, but when I do my iPhone comes out of the case and the charger works with no issues.
I’ll probably use the mag charger when I do charge in the car so it stays charging instead of on and off the wireless one. I don’t often pick the phone up but the on/off charger can’t be good for the battery.

I finally got a chance to try out my old iPhone XS. Worked just fine without a case on it for 5 minutes sitting in the garage. I then tried my iPhone 12 Pro. It stopped charging in less than 1 minute in a case. The case in question is just a thin clear rubber-ish one. I tried again without a case and it worked for 5 minutes before I pulled it back off. I then tried the 12 Pro again and started with it all the way to the right on the charging pad. Worked fine. Once I shifted it roughly 1/4” to the driver side I got an error about misalignment or item blocking. I tried the same with the iPhone XS and was able to get quite a bit further towards the driver before it did the same thing. The only reason I didn’t try the XS with a case is because the case my mother uses has a spot for credit cards, etc on the back and there is no way it is going to work with that case no matter what. In general the XS seems to have a bigger “sweet spot” where it works OK. The 12 Pro seems to be a bit more problematic even without a case, and is super marginal with one.

If I can find my old XS case (which is just a thin clear rubber like I have for the 12 Pro) I’ll try that out too and see if it continues to work OK in the case. If so then I’d assume some phones work better within the constraints of the pocket Ford has and some don’t.

Found my old iPhone XS case so I ran out to the garage to try it out. Charged fine regardless where I put the phone with the case on it. I moved it around intermittently over the course of 5 minutes and had no issues. I don’t get the same results at all with either my iPhone 12 Pro or my wife’s iPhone 12 Pro. In my case I’m not suspecting there is anything wrong with the charger or it would theoretically exhibit the same behavior regardless of the phone that is placed on the charger. In this case both 12 Pro’s behave the same and the XS works fine.
