so far we love this vehicle , I kinda fell away from expeditions when our 2006 king ranch started knocking at 100k and the Air ride went out multiple times, costing us Thousands in repairs, so we traded for. Fusion, OMG WHAT A MISTAKE! So we are blessed to find this gently used 2014 limited, it's super smooth and we love it.

Unfortunately the 05, and 06 Expedition had bad teething problems. First two years for 3 valve motor in your vehicle. Your Ruby is at the tail end of the 3 valve 5.4's, and Ford got most of the bugs out by then.

is it safe to change tranny fluid and filter, or leave it alone.

Drain and fill, 100%. Flush and fill, probably ok. I did my last flush around 100k and have only done drain/fill since. 196k now.

I have been wondering about this myself. Recommended maintenance for the transmission fluid and filter change is at every 105,000 miles. I'm at 128,000 in my 2011 XLT. I could do this myself but I have run into issues before with the tranny (on a Chevy) going out shortly after I did maintenance. I thought I did something wrong, but I recently found out that if you let a transmission go too far past the recommended mileage it can actually cause it to start slipping. In other words, you'd be better off not changing the fluid and filter, and just getting what you can out of the rest of the transmission. I think this is one of those times I'm just going to take it in to the dealer and let them handle it.
