I have not seen a true LS offered on the Gen 4 Expedition, only the electronic model. If there was a true LSD that would be news to me.
True I have not seen any on the Gen4 either.

I think we are getting to caught up in the Limited Slip which is OLD tech per say. I have a Ford Van with Non Limited Slip but it does have the Advance Trac which uses a non limited slip diff and applys brake to the spinning wheel. It works remarkably well I got caught in snow in Flagstaff with summer tires and it handled excellet. I was surprised.

Does your sticker list Control Trac with ELSD.

The actuator is for Non-Limited Slip axels to allow electronic locking. From what I gather there are 3 types

Non-Limited Slip
Non-Limited Slip w/Control Trac Electronic Limited Slip Diff
Limited-Slip (normal clutch type posi)
My window sticker lists 3.73 non limited slip. Hence the confusion. Because my cert sticker lists 3L for limited slip.

That is not your typical spring loaded LSD. It is pretty neat system with clutches, rods, and a pan actuator. It can act as a locker when needed. I used this function to get out of sticky situations and was impressed. However, I have to admit that I only needed it twice in 4 years!

I looked at a build for a 2022, when you select HD Trailer Tow, it includes 3:73 non-limited slip Differential. There is then another option item which provides “Control Trac with ELSD”.

for those that have the 3L axle on the compliance certification sticker in the door post, do you have the separate line item on the window sticker?

No, there is not a separate line item for "control Trac with ELSD" on my window sticker. And I do not have the locker button.

The bottom line is, if you do not have the solenoid for the electrically applied limited slip, you do not have limited slip, it really is that simple.

For me, I believe what we have here is a simple "typo" on the door data tag. As with everything else in life, it's rare, but it happens.

I believe that every vehicle with the same config has this "typo". HD tow with 3.73 non LSD axle. The error started when Ford separated the ELSD from HD tow I suspect.

I'll let you know when mine comes in some time before the end of June.

Any resolution to this?
I also have the 3L, Tow Package, 3.73 non-limited slip on the sticker, no lock button and I don't see a assembly on the differential.

My 22 had the ELSD called out on the window sticker under optional equipment. I specifically ordered it that way as the HD Tow doesn't include that as standard anymore, it has to be added as an option. I believe that started in 20 or 21.

On my 21's window sticker it clearly states:

"HEAVY-DUTY TRAILER TOW PKG NO CHARGE .3.73 NON-LMTED SLIP REAR AXLE"

However, on my cert sticker I have a 3L for the axle code which indicates it does have limited slip. What's up?
Did you ever get to the bottom of this? I'm looking at two 2021's... One is a platinum with the ELDS locker button on the console, the other is a king ranch with no button and the window sticker like yours... BOTH show axle code 3L on the door sticker.

Is it possible that it's still a limited slip rear but without the electronic locking feature? I'm not sure.. I was just looking for the 3:73 confirmation and honestly was expecting two different codes...

Yes. In 21 and newer the ELSD option was not part of the HD tow pkg. It was stand alone. There is no regular limited slip diff, just ELSD. So mine is definitely non limited slip. I'm good with that. I read about lots of issues with the ELSD. Glad I don't have it. The HD tow you absolutely want though. The 3.73 gears alone are worth it even if you don't tow.

If you are forever what reason unable to get under to see if it has an actuator on the axle, you could wet down your drive way in front of your rear tires, step hard on the gas and see what happens. Old school but...
