Gained 1+ mpg City and almost 2+ mpg highway.

I know this may not seem much but for a vehicle that used to get only 17 it soon adds up. Also finding better driving experience.

Replaced the stock air filter with a K&N and now always drive in Sport mode BUT select 2H not 4A which it defaults to. Yes it won't change to 10th gear below 60-65 and has a higher cruise RPM but doesn't Labor when more power needed like an incline, standard will add boost and not change down.

2023 with SPP / HD tow etc.

Change to percentages, and your "may not seem much" is completely wrong! A 5.9% city and 11.8% highway improvement is significant! Kudos, and good job!

Normally , a higher flowing air filter only would increase the fuel ratio in an engine creating more HP but at the same time decreasing fuel economy a bit as well.

Thats atleast my understanding.

I run a K&N in my mustang and a AEM dry flow in the expy and Mileage is the same if not worse , especially in the mustang lol

the Oxygen sensors completely eliminate any such changes, they ensure the fuel air mixture is correct under all running conditions.

If nothing else you will save enough gas money to replace the engine after the K&N dusts it.
Hold the K&N up to a light, you can see right thru them.....Dirt also goes right thru and into your engine.

Back in the day I use to play with Corvettes and other high performance cars. I learned this. There are engineers employed by the auto industry who are charged with draging every last horsepower out of an engine. Some here will remember the horsepower wars between the auto makers. I am not aware of one that used a K&N. That sorta tells me that some of the HP and mileage claims are just that, claims.
That wooshing noise you here isn't horsepower, it is your money being sucked out of your wallet.

I ran k&N's right on the carbs on my banshee and they absolutely were better at flowing air, they absolutely let sand and dust through too but it was worth it to be the fastest up the hill We were putting top ends in pretty regularly though...but that may or may not have had anything to do with the k&N's.

All the other sand toys got oiled foam filters.

I thought someone a while back talked about running in tow mode and getting better mileage too.

I have a 2019 Platinum and get a constant 21.6mpg in standard drive. I tried sport mode and lost a couple mpg. but I counted that as I couldn't keep my foot off the gas because it drives so much faster.

ECO is fine on the highway. But for me it is real doggy in city. I prefer normal. However, Sport is fun. It shifts through all gears, holds the right gear based on speed and definitely give it a whole different sport feel.

I am in your boat as well. All city driving here on flat FL roads and I get maybe 14 mpg at best. I run premium in my 21 platinum w/HD tow. The turbos do sound so cool though……

Driving habits have a lot to do with it as well as roads and traffic lights. Mine has been very economical since I got it. However, I hardly ever initiate the turbos, except passing, etc.

4wd or 2wd? I ask because the 4wd gets slightly less mileage than 2wd. I run regular and my 2wd Platinum has the heavy-duty tow package and 3.73 diff. Maybe it's just driving habits. Premium gas should give better mileage unless a heavy foot is involved.

4wd, I had a 18’ limited 2wd before this one and it got around 15mpg city. I will say that when on the highway and kept around 70 it gets around 24 mpg but it likes 80 much better . We don’t take a lot of highway trips its all pretty much stop and go short trips that are to blame. A tank does last about a month so no complaints on MPG just amazed at your 21 mpg and yes engaging those turbos to hear the whistle up to 25-30 mph is a learned art that costs mpg.
