buying Expedition

Hey guys, I used to drive an 98' Expy then my dad bought my 03' Mustang when I went off to college. I'm buying back the Expy from him this summer and want to put on some mods. I have access to real cheap (40$ a piece) Flowmaster 40s series mufflers in any size and orientation I want. Would this weld on in place of the factory muffler or will a custom set-up need to be fabbed? Also, how big is the factory piping? I really like the Flowmaster 40s that I have on my stang and that I put on my girlfriend's Blazer, so I want to stick with them.
Also, I have rally stripes on my mustang and want to get the same style for the Expedition, The Expedition is maroon so in your opinion what color should I get?
Other than that, my dad just bought brand new tires for it so I'm not going to worry about that, but I'm also thinking about a body lift, who makes the best 3-4" body lift and how hard of an install is it?
Lastly, does a CAI make an Expedition with aftermarket exhaust sound louder? It did for my stang and was wondering if it will with the truck. Thanks guys for your help.

You should be able to weld them up. You may have to make an extension pipe, though. The 40s are considerably shorter than the stock muffler.

Now don't quote me on this but I think the exhaust tubing is 3".

... so I want to stick with them.

Be advised that they will resonate & drone like hell inside your truck. I had a 40 on my V10 Excursion. At 1800 RPM I'da liked to rip the freakin' thing off with my bare hands after about 3 hours of highway drivin'!

Honestly not sure what a CAI is but I'm gonna guess that it is some sort of abbreviation for an Aftermarket Intake.

If so...the only realy difference it'll make as far as SOUND is concerned is that the wonderful intake roar will be more evident. They don't make any difference on the tone from the exhaust.

If it is not an intake, just what does CAI stand for?

I kind of like the Flowmaster, the drone isn't too bad. On my v6 stang, they make it sound like a rumbling v8 up untill you get about 3500 rpm when it starts to sound a little ricey.
As for the stripes, I was thinking of going with tan stripes to match the body trim. But I'm still open for suggestions.
I'll just wait till the summer to head back to Phoenix to measure the exhaust myself. 3" sounds a bit big dont ya think?

On Rice, they're usually louder than the 'tater shooter sticking out the back.
