when I first start up my 09 Expy. I get a clack-clack-clack noise from inside the dash. This goes away after a minute or so. Also, I cannot turn the A/C temperature all the way down, because it gives a clack-clack-clack noise. But this one sounds different and louder than the first one. Raising the temperature about 1/8 turn stops it. Also, sometimes everthing comes from the A/C vents. I cannot change to the defrost or floor vents. Wondering what I need to change to fix this. Apparently, there is no vacuum control like on earlier models.

there is a blend damper motor in the dash that's busted..it's a pretty easy part to replace, you have to take the center console out though. You'll find videos on replacing it in youtube.

I found the blend motor, but it's not in the console. It's behind the dash up above the gas pedal. I pulled it out and opened it up and some of the teeth are gone from the gears. BUT when I operate the blend door by hand, I cant move it far enough for the air to change from the dash vents to the floor. It must be jammed in there somewhere. I can only move it about 20 degrees. That must be why the blend motor was damaged. I wonder if something fell down into the defroster vents and is keeping the blend door from moving far enough. The blend activator is part 8L84-19E616-CA.

Well, I looked at some Youtube videos and I found that it's NOT the blend door I have a problem with, it's the MODE door. That's why I only get air from the A/C vents and not from the floor or the def vents. And in the video I watched the guy gets a lot more movement from the mechanism than I do. So, in addition to the mode door motor, I need to find out what's binding the mode mechanism. I think that's what ate the little motor. I opened it up and found the gear is stripped. Probably due to the binding of the mode doors.
