Well I am still working on my brake lines. I got the lines from the ABS to the master cylinder off ebay for $30. they were 1/4" lines. I got my connector for the last fitting I couldnt find also off ebay by buying a used abs module that had the same configuration as mine brake line wise...
well to be straight about it the lines coming from the master cylinder are not 3/16ths. I went to napa but they weren't much help. On the bright side ebay has both lines from the master cylinder in stainless steel lines for $30. So I ordered them just because I'm tired of running around trying...
Thanks for that info. Yes I have a mastercool flaring tool that does bubble flares. I have used Bubble flares on everything for the brakelines so far. I will keep an eye on this post.
Does anyone know what diameter brake line is used between the master cylinder and the abs unit on the 2006 expedition? Also looking for the flare nuts size as well. I am using the copper nickle tubing to replace the lines going to the wheels however the lines running from the master cylinder to...
I'm in the middle of replacing my brake lines on my 06 expedition. I can recommend the nickle copper alloy brake line. Its great to work with. I also wrapped much of it with the stainless steel coil for protection from road debris. I bought a Mastercool hydraulic flaring tool. Works great in...
Thanks for the replys. Looks like I am going with option 2. I don't really care how the outside looks because you really can't see it. I just thought it would be a good idea to wipe out the inside but it seems that is not an option right now. The front differential sounds like it will be even...
I'm planning on replacing the rear differential fluid in my 2006 expedition which has 4 wheel drive. I'd like to remove the cover and clean out the housing before I replace the fluid. There isn't much clearance by the cover. Is it possible to remove the cover for cleaning by just removing the...
Any views on what to apply to the existing rust on the frame to slow it down? I've read POR15 but i've never used it. I have used some stuff by Eastwood.
I saw that and almost went that route but since I was looking for 4 connectors I just decided to replace the radiator with this one.https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004LGPHE8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 for $135 and most of the reviews weren't bad. I will probably use that...
Run into another issue. Quess I've read it elsewhere but Ford doesn't sell the quick connect fitting that goes in the radiator separately. You can only purchase a new radiator with the connectors. The one that Dorman shows doesn't look like the correct part. Anyone figured this out?
Well the lines at the radiator connectors were corroded so badly ended up cutting the lines to remove them. So that then required a 27mm socket to remove the screw in connectors. waiting on replacements showing up hopefully I ordered the correct item. 7L3Z-7D273-A is supposed to be the new...
Well not doing any towing so I am planning on leaving the cooler alone. Right now removing the lines from the transmission is a bit of a challenge as there is not much room around there. I'll see about taking some pictures tomorrow.
Well I just found out that I need to replace my transmission cooling lines due to rust. Its an 06 xlt. Are there any other lines or parts that are prone to rust on the expedition? Basically its been a pretty solid vehicle. I'm going to replace the transmission filter while I'm at it. So it is...
Okay I know its trivial but it annoys me. The small mirror in the upper center by the sunglasses holder mirror retaining clip broke off. Does anyone know how to replace it and where to find a replacement? I guess this would be a mirror to keep an eye on kids in the rear of the vehicle to the...
I'm going to replace my lower ball joints on my 2006 expedition. Does anyone know the size of the axel nut its 4 wheel drive. what are the odds that the upper ball joint would need replacing at the same time? Thanks
I'm assuming that when I turn on the rear window defroster via button on dash my side mirrors will defrost as well and since there is a timer for the rear window defroster it will all turn off at the same time. Magic eh!
well I guess they are manual and I also thought that there was already a fuse in the circuit since I am checking and tapping in at the connector for the mirror in the door at the same connector that the powered mirror and puddle light run from.
Well I'm expecting to control my heated mirrors through the rear defrost circuitry as well. I put my meter on the green and purple wire in position 1 and ground and turned the rear defroster on and off a couple of times and verified that it will control the power to heat my rear view mirrors. It...
Okay thanks for the diagrams I think I have it sorted out. What I found on my 2006 expedition was that heated mirrors was an option that year. So I removed the inner door cover and looked at the connector for the mirrors. Per another forum thread whatever it was mentioned that the Green/violet...
Okay my 2006 expedition did not come with heated mirrors but, as far as I know they were an option. So I have the inner cover off and the connector visible with 4 wires on the mirror side connector. However the are several wires on the other side of the connector that are not being used. Does...
