Thanks for those tips... Definitely quiet is a good thing. Really the two biggest times I need the fan to be enabled this when we first get in the car and there's a huge amount of heat in it that the electric fan can help push more air across the coils so the car will get cooler faster. The...
Yeah I think I'm going to have to do that. I pulled off the severe duty clutch after 2 weeks. It sure helped... But man did it rob power and fuel economy
Yeah, the efan would be the ultimate solution, but right now im trying not to spend another 5-700 on the truck if I can help it. The fan clutch removal/replacement really doesn't take that long (20-30 mins) so I'm thinking maybe let the gas mileage suffer in the summer but get better cooling and...
Hi all,
I wanted to ask a couple of questions here to see if any of y'all could give me some guidance. month and a half ago AC compressor died in the 05...full failure...necropsy showed metal shavings/gunk in everything. Had to replace it to the tune of 2800 bucks. (new condenser/dryer...
The fact that I nearly get gassed out with raw/rich fumes from the tail pipe when the windows on the passenger side are down is the big give away. Plus gas mileage SUCKS.
I have absolutely not pulled the plugs due to the fact I'm not willing to have to go through the headache of extracting...
I'm trying to track down a strange issue with my expy. It runs RICH. However, there are no codes at all being produced. I replaced all 8 injectors about 3ish years ago with the updated part numbers that fixed the leaky/stuck ones from the factory. So I'm relatively sure it's not that. I'm just...
Was hoping I could get some clarification on this. I have the rear AC on my 05 expedition and when I'm testing the high/low side with the AC on max/full, should the rear be on full as well? I'm noticing 2 different pressure readings when the rear is off vs on. I'm having issues with the AC...
Hey man I really appreciate the offer! That's for a different style valve cover than mine unfortunately. I WISH mine had that style with just the twist on/off fill spout. Mine appear to be fused/glued to the covers with no way to take them off.
I was able to procure a 2nd right side valve cover for free, however it appears this one was for something that had the threaded part potentially elsewhere (hose attached or something). Is there an adapter I can get for it to put a threaded top/cap?
I should also mention that the motor coming out is a Romeo not a Windsor, so the valve covers are not interchangeable sadly. Otherwise I'd use use my old ones. Interestingly enough the ones in the car also have this style of fill pipe and it seems to be glued in as well??
Help! I bought a 4.6L 2v Windsor motor to do a swap and the guy I bought the motor from when he pulled the motor broke this flange. I thought it was going to be cosmetic but the cap doesn't seal. It's broken off just below where the o-ring seats. Has anybody found a replacement filler tube and...
FINAL UPDATE
Clockspring was indeed the source of the airbag light. So it was a cascading failure. First the light, then the horn and the cruise control. Replaced it tonight and all the light went off. Cruise control and horn work. Thank you everybody for your input! This forum is awesome!
Yeah, I sure hope this makes the light go off...it would make sense. However if it doesn't I guess I have 2 paths forward...take it to Ford and have them do the 139 dollar diagnostic/pinpoint test for me...or try and source an airbag to test in place of the current one. Clockspring arrives...
It clips directly to the steering column and is a loop that encircles the lock cylinder. it would look something like this wires plug into the back of it and then when the key is turned the wire coil in the loop energizes and reads the data off the chip in the key and passes it along to the...
So I definitely have a bad clockspring. Cruise control and horn stopped working today. I bet you it's the source of my airbag light too. New part on order here Tuesday
Hi guys. just wanted to update this thread. I went into my local Ford dealership and got 10 mins with their master tech. Transceiver does not need to be programmed. if keys and PATS module stay the same you're golden. Transceiver just reads the key. Hope this helps somebody down the road!
THats the thing...im not changing keys, im not changing the anti-theft module. I'm just replacing the transceiver which supposedly just "reads" the chip in the key and passes the information along. Along that line of logic if it's just a reader of information then it should just be a drop in...
Starting a new thread for what I "hope" is going to be an easy fix. For those following my airbag troubleshooting here https://www.expeditionforum.com/threads/airbag-light-on-2008-expedition-xlt.38135/ You already know I'm a bonehead and dropped my key transceiver last night and buggered it up...
So my part number is slightly different 6e5t-15607-ac but yes this looks like a part that should be a simple fix. Just wish my dealer had it in stock so that I could grab it and get this truck started again.
Bit of a bonehead mistake I made last night while troubleshooting my wiring harness...I dropped the Transceiver piece that reads the key chip and it exploded all over the garage floor...damn those things are fragile...I packed all the fine antenna wire back in the device in hope that it would...
OH no problem. I really do appreciate you bothering to take the time to caution me! You can never be too careful with the airbag system. I just didn't want anyone to think I was just going in and doing things without careful planning. Fords are a passion of mine and I keep a fleet of family...
The airbag itself is completely disconnected and out of the vehicle. I'm not concerned about detonating it at this point. I have extensively read on how to de-power and properly remove airbag components. I consider myself a fairly versed shade tree Ford tech, However I do appreciate your concern...
