06 Expedition 5.4 116000 miles

just got a call back from the shop they are telling me that because the motor has an over retard on one bank of the engine and an under retard code on the other that i need a new engine this all stems from a misfire code ? can i get some help here?

Have you talked to any other shops? Sounds odd to me, have you replaced the plug and CoP on cylinder 5 (problem cylinder from your other thread)? Have they given you any other information as to why they feel the motor needs to be replaced? The more detail the better, all we can tell is what you type in...

I would say that unless the retard conditions on the motor have damaged the internals, a new motor would not be necessary. I could be off though, I don't work at a shop. Others will chime in, everyone was at work haha.

I seen this video the shop said nothing about the VCT's I asked if the cams are receiving a retard code wouldn't you look at that . And I know they operate from oil pressure .

I swapped #5 coil and #6 too see if it was bad that's when I got got 0011 and 0012 codes
