Hey Guys, i was just wondering if there are 2 PCV valves on the engines. i was changing the valve on the passenger side when i also saw a valve on the drivers side also. Is this a PCV valve also or something else?

Well as far as I know there is only the one on the passenger side. Posting a picture of what you are looking at on the drivers side would help.

I think you're looking at the breather tube. Does it have a hose that connects to the intake duct, in front of the throttle body?

The PCV valve draws fresh air in through the crankcase by pulling vacuum on the passenger valve cover. Fresh air is drawn through the intake ductwork, through the breather tube into the driver side valve cover, and through the engine. Notice that the breather tube draws air from in front of the throttle body, meaning it does not have constant vacuum applied unlike the PCV.

Agree with the others......

That's a good description of its design. I want to add it pulls in fresh air from ahead of the throttle body but after the mass air meter so all air ingested by the motor is "metered" air (has passed through the mass air meter). It does so to to allow the pcm to properly maintain consistent air fuel ratio.

Really there should be zero vacuum ahead of the throttle body (less than 1" in hg) unless you have serious restriction in the air filter assembly.

I so believe that what you are looking at is the elbow out of the D.S. tappet cover that is the EGR inlet and not a PCV valve.

But those more experienced in these matters, please correct me if I am incorrect.

yes it does have a hose that goes from it to the intake. the guy that had the truck before me must of broke it because there is duct tape, well what is left of duct tape at the end where it goes into the valve cover. It need to be replaced because there is oil leaking from it.

Thanks guys did some research and come to find out it is the crankcase air supply elbow. Air come in from the air intake and goes through the elbow into the crankcase.
