Hello all, new to the forum and am hoping you can help me out! I have a 2002 Expedition 2WD EB with the 4.6 with 82k miles. When cold the front end makes what I guess I would call a rubbing sound like a bad shock in the front end when going over bumps/speed breakers/etc. I thought it may be a bad shock and replaced all four, but the sound is still there. I take impeccible care of my cars and going through a parking lot is embarrassing because of this sound, it makes it sound like an old clunker... Any ideas on what to check/replace next? I really want to resolve this sound!

Sounds like you have some worn or dry/cracked upper and lower A-Arm bushings or bad/worn sway bar bushings. Or it could be bad ball joints or tie-rod ends.

It is basically going to take you to get under there and inspect all the bushings and also the BJ's and TR ends.

Thank you, I am a "take it to a repair shop" kinda guy, lol, so I will get it checked out. But would any of these items cause it to ONLY do it when under 40 degrees or so? It never does it when it is warmer.

sounds like bushings honestly my truck was the same and i saw several others that creaked real bad over speed bumps in the cold. the rubber bushings get stiffer when its that cold i left mine alone and no problems. a shop will charge you the part plus around 95-100 dollars an hour labor and so your most likely looking a 250 plus to replace something that still works just fine. just noisy when cold.... move to a warmer climate?
