When I fill up all the way, there's a profuse gas leak which occurs but ends in a minute or so.
Has anyone had first hand experience fixing this yourself and if so were there any parts that
needed replacement ?
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the filler neck has deteriorated.

Look under truck under the panel, its probably just the filler leaking and not the tank or fuel system.

You may be pumping gas, into charcoal canister/evap system. One or two clicks only.

Either I'm lucky with my 2000, I top mine up at least $1.00 or more after the pump clicks off. I've never had a leak, or any smell. Most vehicles though you can't push it like I do. When I ran a motorcycle service dept a few years back, we used to repeatedly tell customers to leave at least 2 inches from top of tank. I'm with Brian, you've got a hose issue that should be diagnosed, and repaired, fuel leaks aren't something you don't want to ignore. Fumes in the cab, as well as possibility of fuel splashing on exaust, or any hot part, is not a good thing.
