I have a 2004 4WD with 139K miles on it. I noticed a month or so ago that sometimes over 65 or 70 MPH I would get a vibration I could feel in the steering wheel that would rattle the coins in the center tray. This would usually only happen when the entire truck was cold....not temperature.....just on the first trip out in the morning. I took the truck in and had the tires replaced, brakes replaced, struts replaced...and a few other items....all to the tune of about $2,500.00. The truck felt brand new and everything was great. BUT, about a week after all the work was done, same damn thing. It only vibrates once in a while, when cold and only last for about 5-10 minutes. Then no vibration.
Any ideas?

Thanks,

KW

Thank you for following up. Don't know how many post I have read in the past while searching for a solution that just die with no follow up of the actual cause of issue. Sucks!

Front U-joints? Or rear?

It was on the front. I am assuming they changed both the drivers side (which had the vibration) and the passenger side. Not sure. They also found that one of the sway bar connections was broken or cracked. They fixed that also. It started running pretty good on the freeway at 70 plus. The only issue I just had was during a trip up north I found that the truck took on a "wobble" when touching the steering wheel above 70+MPH. Not a bad wobble but enough to be annoying. This happened about 3 hours into my trip on the freeway. I am not even going to try to figure that one out. I usually don't run much over 70MPH anyway plus the truck has 140k miles on it. Time to start looking at the 2012 models....hope I hit the lottery...LOL
