2004 Eddie Bauer - Radio buttons not functioning & steering wheel volume not function

Hello,

I just purchased a 2004 Expedition with the navigation head unit. It is great and a feature I have never had in a vehicle before. However some of the buttons on the head unit do not work. Specifically 3 of the numbered buttons. I also noticed that I can not turn the volume up from the steering wheel. I kno that the rear controls restrict raising the volume, is this the same for the steering wheel?
