I have a 2007 expedition, a/c inop. I put some freon in and it leaks out within 2 hrs. I hear a hissing noise in the right rear of the vehicle. Any idea of what this is or anyone had this problem?

Welcome to the site. You have a leak of course, you will need to determine if the leak is inside or outside the cabin. Inspect the lines underneath and remove the rear panel that covers the ac components. Pressurize the system and locate the leak. Hopefully it will be just an o-ring.

Normally if you have a leak it is because one of the in-line O-Ring’s has hardened and srank allowing the Freon to leak out into the air. New O-Rings are not super hard to put in depending on vehicle and a/c blueprint. Most all the system is made up of aluminum which doesn’t rust. Good luck.

Not sure if you're still huntin your ac leak Tambrin. Here's a few thoughts on how to locate it:

1) You mentioned that you used a UV light, did you put dye in the system?

2) You're lucky you can hear the hissing, most ac leaks are slow with no sound and harder to find usually requiring a freon "sniffer."

3) Instead of wasting freon hook up a compressed air supply to an ac gauge set. You can now follow the steady hissing sound from the leaking air. Air source can be a small compressor set to 100psi and rigged to fit the yellow hose. You can borrow the gauge set for free from most local parts houses.

Hope this helps!
