I tow a 35' camper about once a month between April and November. When I am towing, I just assume I am going to get crappy MPG's regardless of whether my tow vehicle has a v8, turbo v6, diesel, etc. So for 16 days out of the year, I suck it up and accept single digit MPG's.
The issue is the other 349 days that I drive. The ecoboost makes perfect sense for a guy like me who commutes 40 miles a day, 5 days a week in a Expedition EL. A bigger V8 would not work. Diesel wouldn't either since dieseline in my area is between 25 and 40 cents more per gallon of regular gas.
Personally, I would be one of the first to buy an Ecoboost Expedition EL. But for the love of God, PLEASE give me decent tow mirrors!
On a somewhat related note, I read in the latest issue of Motor Trend that Lincoln is making a concerted effort to go green and will be offering the Ecoboost in the Navigator for 2013 when the model is re-freshed. Who knows.... maybe the same will happen with the Expy.
As for diesel costing more it still saves u money. Diesels get so much better fuel milage it more then offsets the cost.
