Has anyone actually tried to keep the stock airbox and just replace the stock air intake tube with plastic/silicone/whatever piping? My goal is purely cosmetic.. put in a system that gets rid of those ugly-looking boxes that are placed on different sections of the intake tube..

Airraid makes a tubing kit that comes with various bends that could be clamped together to make work. Before I shell out the cash I wonder if fuel economy would suffer enough to make me not want to do it.

1. Airraid is junk. I’d stay away from anything they make.
2. You’re mpg may not suffer because you aren’t changing the air box to something like a k&n that is basically a heat shield with weather stripping around the top that seals off engine air.
3. As long as you can mimic the angles of the OEM system you should be ok.

I went with k&n for looks and sound. Losing mpgs with this cold dense air we have but performance is good

There is no replacement for it. But I am going to clean mine up so it is smooth. I don't want all the baffles in mine.

I'm going to header wrap mine when done.

Good luck.
