Just finished installing a Remote Start system with a Smartphone control on my 16 XLT and thought i would share.
Fortin Evo-All with the Fosgate MYCAR app controller.
View media item 6634View media item 6632
Only had to connect two wires, the rest was plug & play.
View media item 6635
Tidy up the wiring (mess) in to a usable loom and install in to the vehicle.

Setup up the app
View media item 6637
Follow the setup procedures for the Evo-All first, then add the MYCar controller.

Some tidy up work is still required.

I need to find the lock & unlock command wires so i can add that feature to the smartphone app.
(if anyone knows which wire those are please share.

Total Cost $260.00 and two hours of my time.

Nice project and nice finish on the garage floor!
Thank you, i did the floor myself, back breaking project but worth it. If you notice my workbench is the same color as the floor, only with out the flakes :) Easy to clean

Did you specifically want the app control and that the reason you went aftermarket with all the excess wiring?
Instead of just buying the remote start keyfob key and activating in ForScan.

Yup, Nice garage!

Yes, i wanted the App control, nearly unlimited range and i can check that the Exp is locked when i am no where near it. I can still use the OEM key (Lock x3).
There is plenty of room under the dash, so the wires quickly disappear.
Plus it was cheaper overall, no Ford Dealer prices and i have GPS location, battery voltage monitoring (I know, not necessary but cool).

Did not realize it had all those options not bad at all for the price and options.

Though 2 keyfobs cut should be less than $100.
Program them yourself and activate through ForScan. You’re in at half the price with zero wiring yet less options.

I like the GPS and lock check options.

What you can get remote start with just a new fob and programing?

That is correct.
It is covered in the ForScan thread. Not sure the page though.

Thx, I will definitely check it out. We were planning on adding a remote start before winter, as the wife is spoiled.

I've been reading through a thread I'm on like post 70 of 662!!! I'm not sure it's the right thread, but it's title is (Forscan Tweaks - 2015 +) But just so where on the same page, I can do this without having the loaded out Expedition with sync 3? We have the regular sync with the small display. I also was thinking about this option from eBay, any thoughts?

I want to say it was somewhere in the 40-60 page range of that thread where someone verified they had successfully done it with only new Keyfobs and ForScan. Unfortunately they never returned and stated specifically what they did in ForScan.

https://www.expeditionforum.com/threads/how-to-add-remote-start-using-forscan.36477/#post-312426

Here is the best route I have found using the plain English programming.
I have not verified this personally yet as it is lower on my list but Winter is approaching so guess I need to get on it.

Thx Black, let me know when you succeed at this! From what I can tell my 1st step is to get the software and license as well as the elm connector to a pc. My downfall is my only laptop is apple. From what I've read that's a issue.

The problem for about using the key fob only is that you will have a limited range, approx 100ft from the vehicle, plus the horn double beeps twice using the lock lock lock method. That might get annoying with the neighbors in the early mornings.

Another plus for the app is I can activate the remote start option while i am parked with the vehicle running, I can remove the key from the ignition and lock it while I go in to a store keeping the interior cool. Then, when coming back in the car put the key back in and turn to run position, then press the brake pedal, which disengages the remote start and drive.

Correct on the limitations. Though one can turn the double horn honk off in ForScan.

I’ll only use it a couple mornings a week when taking the boys to school so I don’t have to wait on the frost so range not a huge factor.

Though I do like the GPS location mentioned. So I am going to a read a bit more into it.
I just hate wiring. It is my least favorite thing to do when automobiles.
I keep putting off hard wiring my GPS because of it.

Laptops at pawn shops are about to become very cheap with the holidays approaching.

Or just run boot camp on your Mac and be running Windows.

Looks like there is no option for a keyfob and while not terribly expensive a yearly fee I am not a fan of.

Which model did you go with for $269? Where did you buy?

I certainly would not buy the 3g model as that network likely is not long for this world.
Verizon is cutting their 3g network next year so others will certainly follow suit.

Verizon is sunsettimg their CDMA network in late 2019. GSM networks are probably around until 2021. 4G and later are GSM based on all networks.
