New stuff always gets blasted. When the 3rd gen came out on 07’ all the 1st gen owners probably blasted it the same. People still do. The 5.4 3V got blasted for being too complicated adding variable cam timing, the 6 speed was ridiculed for being untested. The 4WD and computer was criticized for having an automatic off road mode when 4x4 Low was selected. AdvanceTrac and braking bias were criticized for being a nanny. They were blasted for heavy curb weight. Overall many of the things people didn’t like made it a great vehicle. Just as the 4th gen has a lot of these great things that can be ridiculed.

The 4th gen is a good truck overall. No denying pricey, but that will soon have to change as auto sales for ford continue to drop. You can charge more per unit but if your only selling a half of the units you once sold your losing. ESP in this case with all the money spent on design and retooling to only sell less. They spent all this money and gained zero market share.

They still make a good truck. And the 18’+ is a good looking and powerful vehicle. But things change and laws and regulations often bar the manufacturers from doing things we want.

Please name a competitor to the expedition that gives more bang for the buck and higher quality.

Bang for buck new car, especially considering quality, would be the Armada. Now the expedition has tons of nifty features and more room, but that comes at nearly double the cost. Which if you can afford it, is worth it

We own the updated Armada and it does offer a lot of bang for the buck. I owned a QX80 and the Armada is virtually the same SUV at a fraction of the cost, in Platinum form it was still well under $60k. That said, we are looking at the Expedition for the Max platform which is unrivaled outside of GM at any cost. That Armada is a pretty dated Nissan Patrol platform but is rock solid and we like it. But with four kids and athletic gear, the Max or Suburban options are required. I really love the look of the new Expedition and it being a new generation is a big selling point. Will be interesting to see the GM triplets when they arrive in the middle of 2019.
