Hello, has anyone added a video system to their LTD Expy? Mine has the panoramic sunroof so an overhead is out of the questions. Are the headrest solutions the only thing i can do? I appreciate suggestions, help, and/or links to equipment.

thanks!

We did 2 headrest mounts for iPads. Bought on amazon and they work perfectly. Can use wired or wireless headphones

There are literally dozens of threads on here regarding the setups folks have put into their Expis. You may check a few of those....here's a smattering but there are many others:

Is it possible to rig up something to allow a 21" screen for an xbox/switch, etc? in this location. a bar across the headrests? Ideas? I didn't find a viable solution in the threads above. Thanks.

Hmm.. How about a dual cupholder solution?

If it was me, I would look at a wall mounted monitor arm, scr3wed (dumb profanity filter) into the base of that cup holder. Something like this, but sideways of course. You would obviously lose the use of those cupholders though. I think a replacement cupholder is about $50, so you could always buy a second, then swap them out as needed.

Edit: Replacement cupholder is $30 on Tasca, part HC3Z-2513562-BC

Cup holder is the logical mounting point in that spot. It wouldn't be hard to make something even if it were wood with "inserts" on the bottom to engage both cup holders.

My concern would be in an accident. A monitor of that size mounted by an articulating arm is going to take someones head off in a rollover or hard hit. I would have someone make up a fixed arm if you go that route. No doubt the cup holder will likely fail as it isn't designed for that sort of load but at least it's better than something freely swinging around.

Would it be out of the question to have someone weld nuts or whatever necessary to mount an arm to the floor? It sounds like this is something you'll use more than once given you're looking for a large display. Could be worth the investment

Thanks for the suggestion, i will look at how to secure it in case like you said. I was just looking at something for a trip to NY, about 2k miles from here and back. After the trip, it will be removed as kids don't live with me.

Oh wow!! that could work. Contacting them to see how much weight it holds... Thanks!!
Just bear in mind what Aspen said. I would epoxy that thing into the cupholder to prevent it, and the monitor attached to it, from decapitating someone in the event of a car accident.

Also, make sure the monitor has the correct VESA bolt pattern to match the mount.
