2021 question

I just picked up my 2021 Expedition max and I noticed that there was no engine cover on it. I called the dealer and they check the 3 others on the lot and none had it. It seems wired that the clips are there for the cover but the stopped putting it on in 21? I also noticed that the dashboard does not display the transmission gears and current gear. Does anyone with a 21 have the same issues?

Hit the ‘+’ to get the gears to show up.

By default the transmission gears aren’t displayed. Press the “+” button by the drive selector on the center console and that’ll make the gear display appear on the dash.

It could also be a supply chain issue, like the plastic piece under the roof rails for some 2019’s.

When you say engine cover, are you referring to the plastic cover under the hood over the engine, or the splash guard thing under the engine?

Thanks for the gear display tip.... I asked the dealer and none on the lot had it, They were trying to check to see if it was a supply issue. I looked it up online and its 70.00 for the part...it looks like sh*t without it so i guess im buying it....ts

I ‘d bet someone hit their lot and they have missing parts. The engine cover on my 19 is a high temp Foam it’s part of the noise management aspect of the vehicle. I highly doubt it left the factory without it. Someone pilfered it between the factory and you buying it.

I just checked new expeditions on autotrader. The pictures of the engine bay show the 2021’s without this cover.

Ford had the engine cover on the 5.4 Triton V8 for the first few years of the 3rd gen then stopped supplying it, seems like a common theme across their lineup that they do. They took away the 2.7 cover from the F-150 in 2019 too.

That HAS to be louder with that cover off....... How annoying.

That's insane, supply issue or not, you shouldn't have to pay for one. If parts diagrams for 21s show them, then it should be there. Even if it is a back order thing, make the dealer order you one.

Maybe that's why many are missing the rubber plugs that prevent water incursion too...

Took delivery of my 2021 on Tuesday. Just popped the hood because i didnt remember one way or the other when i looked Tuesday. It does NOT have any kind of cover.

I didn't buy dealer stock, it came straight from the factory like this. Was built 2nd week of Feb.

Just purchased my 2021 Expy XLT last Thursday here in Maryland. No cover. Calling dealership today to ask.
