Where are you trying to mount it? This goes in the lower spot. The coin slot is designed for the Trailer control knob.
Actually, the coin slot is for the trailer brake controller according to the 21 f150 dash. The trailer control knob is about and it looks like they had a hole punch out of the dash to mount the trailer control knob.

Different than the Expedition vs the F150. I've attached a screen grab (my Expedition in shipping status)
The knob in the upper left hand side is for the trailer back up assist, while the slide bar below it is the actual electronic brake controller that fits in the lower slot just to the left of the temperature controls.

The coin slot on my expedition is in the same place as the Trailer Brake Controller in the picture.

On a 2022, correct, that is where it belongs if installed by the factory. There should actually be a plug wrapped up under the dash, behind the "coin slot" for the correct "Expedition style" brake controller. This was done as a cost savings for Ford, and a way for a dealer to easily "upsell" the controller unit

a few months back in N W PA. I was traveling east with hard GUSTING winds out of the south with drifting snow. I was driving normal 60 .. 65 on side road with my trailer following me. One of the gusts hit as I was going over an ICE patch. The trailer went full sideways.. So thankful I knew enough to hit the gas not the brakes.. I bit sketchy as I was already going faster than I prob should have.

Unless you’re seeing something I’m not, all those cable run to the climate controls and infotainment system

I discussed with technician at dealership. They confirmed with me no plug wrapped behind the coin spot. They said that hole is not fit TBC model number: JL3Z-19H332-AA.

They said TBC F150 2021 may be fit that hole. TBC part number: ML3Z-19H332-AA

Im still waiting update from Ford. Expedition Timberline is still new model.

Just in case, I plan to use Tekonsha Prodigy 902502 Trailer brake controller when I tow my trailer.

Thank you.

My dealer tech said the ML3Z-19H332-AA kit should work in the 2022 Expeditions, the only kicker being there isn’t a pigtail behind the coin holder.

I have a prodigy and have no issues with it but also have a redarc tow pro elite and have installed it in a few other peoples vehicles and prefer it for its low profile and nicer look. Once mounted you hardly know it is there. Worth considering. Prodigy has a new one called the Prodigy ID that looks nice and is comparable to the redarc but I haven't used it or know anyone that has used it. I haven't used the prodigy you mentioned though, always been a little skeptical of the RF controller.

It might not be hanging loose. My old Honda Pilot was prewired for a number of things and most wiring harnesses were zip tied up and out of the way so they would not rattle. I would not be surprised if that was the case.

Man, I sure hope so. I guess that means the dealership is gonna have to tear the dash apart to get to it though

Some of the f150 i know have pigtail plugged into a blank connector to hold it from flopping around. You need to look real good

Do you mean a different blank connector than what is in the back of the coin tray??

Might be on the dash support framework. Was that way on one of my f150s.

Ok, went by the dealer today see about getting the integrated TBC installed on the 22 expy. Ford’s Parts catalog is still showing showing that the 2021 TBC is the part needed for our 22’s. The parts guy at my dealer confirmed that this is an error in Ford’s parts catalog because there is no way the 2021 TBC fits in that portion of the dash (which I knew because we already discussed it previously in this thread). The parts guy said he’s going to keep looking through his stuff and see what he can come up with and that hopefully ford corrects the catalog issue, as there is no OEM TBC that actually fits our vehicles.
