Wow there's a lot of information here! I'm trying to surmise exactly what I need to do to go to the pro trailer brake option on my 2022 max limited. Is there anybody out there that can just put a summary of instructions and how to go do it and the parts needed? It would be greatly appreciated

It's possible. I messed with my setting so much prior to adding the wire, I have no way of knowing. Did you get yours working?
Just got it all installed!
Now off to the programming races!

I see you put in the knob for the pro trailer backup. Did you swap out the airbag module as well? My understanding is there is something in a version of that module that is needed to make that knob work. I put the knob in myself too, but haven't dug too much into what I need to do to make it work...

Nope, was just copying you. Thought you had it all figured out. Lol

I will share that information, but not until I figure out what ford is going to do about the missing wire. At that time, I'll make a comprehensive process.

For what it's worth, each line in the TRM needed changed, and you have to verify that lines in the APIM and IPC are switched to ENABLED.

I started the process very methodically, notating all of my Forscan changes. As time progressed and positive results weren't achieved, frustration got the best of me and I stopped keeping track of my changes. When i went back to my old adage of LOOK-LISTEN-LEARN did i make immediate progress. Sometimes you just have to get back to your roots, you know.

***Edit*** sorry, reading comprehension.

Sorry to bother, where did you find the changes you needed to make in your TRM?

Sounds like the jury is still out on the pro-trailer function.

JohnsonEJ 23, did you use the below module? I ask because when I go into set it up through Forscanthere's no where to enable the trailer brake gain setting

Yes, that is what I ordered. The sticker on the part showed ML3T-19J295-CA, so at first, I thought they sent me the wrong part, but they shared something with me saying that this was an "engineering number" that correlated to the ordered part number.

Ok guys .. I'm at a loss. I've installed the below parts and ran the LIN wire like has been described. Now when I go into Forscan IPC module the "Trailer Brake Controller Gain" isn't there.

Any ideas?

Jumper Wire: NL1Z14A411F

I’m still struggling with activation, myself. However, my understanding is that you cannot use “easy mode,” you have to go line by line (per the link in @JohnsonEJ23 post) to change.

I recently looked up a truck’s vin on Autotrader to copy the line by line code they have for these modules, in case that is required, but haven’t had time to go playing around in FORScan for a minute.

I've tried that also. Given the Gain isn't showing up in IPC I'm thinking I have the wrong trailer brake control module.

JohnsonEJ23, did you ever figure it out? We just purchased a new 2024 Max Limited. It does not have the HD tow package, but factory hitch and 4&7 pin plugs are there in the rear bumper. There was a TBC jumper harness in the cargo tray next to the jack, that matches up to your white/red connector. FOMOCO part JL1T 14A348 R59C0. It's just a grey plug pigtail. I want to install a TBC on this thing, but I am reluctant if it isn't 'plug and play'. I got spoiled with how easy our Subaru Ascent was. It literally had pigtail under the dash, and you just plugged it in, mounted it and you're done.

So, an update to the debacle everyone is facing with trailer brake controllers. Behind the in-dash coin holder in a grey plug that looks like it's plugged in, but it is only a dead socket to protect the connector. This magically matches the pigtail I found in the undertray in the rear next to the jack. (described above). I purchased a REDARC Tow Pro Liberty trailer brake controller with the universal pigtail harness, matched all the wires, soldered them and heat-shrinked. After a few choice words and scratches trying to fish the harness down to where the pedals and lower airbag, I was able to plug it all in. I hooked up my Trail Manor Camper, test drove and it worked beautifully. No FORScan needed. in the process, to make a nice mounting spot for the REDARC gain/e-braking knob, I butchered useless coin holder by cutting it down flush to just the frame, drilled a big hole in the back, and custom made a face plate to go on top of the remnants of the frame out of a textured piece of sheet metal. I used a plastic epoxy to glue it on, a little satin-black spray paint (didn't have flat black) and it looks great. It works great too! no re-doing a bunch of pins in connectors, no reprogramming anything... it just works! I will add pics later if interested

Hi, did you figure it out something?
I have the exactly the same thing (Forscan screen) on mine with a different module TRM (ML3T-19J294-FB).

Did you by the way found a solution to enable the OEM controller and Gain on the Dash? Aftermarket works great (with no gain showing on dash).

Also, anybody know if to change the GAIN on the dash when you press the controller, the trailer needs to be connected?
