Just bought a 2003 expedition Eddie Bauer 4x4 has 17 inch stock rims and worn out 265/70r17s. I found a great deal on a set of Goodyear Mudd terrains for $200 but they are 255/75r17. I know they will be a little taller but will them being more narrow look dumb? Anyone have pics of this size on their ride? Thanks

Doubtful... most members go larger if anything.

Compare them side by side in the tire store if the have both sizes.

I was just thinking they will look taller and just be a little bit narrower so should save on the mpg loss

265/70R17

Diameter = 31.6"
Width = 10.43"
Wheel = 17"
Sidewall = 7.3"
Circumference = 99.2"
Revs/Mile = 638.4

255/75R17

Diameter = 32.1"
Width = 10.04"
Wheel = 17"Sidewall = 7.53"
Circumference = 100.7"
Revs/Mile = 629.4

Your speedo will read 1.4% too low according to the revs per mile.

The difference is minor enough doubt you will see any change in mpg's.

Are they so close you probably won't be able to tell a difference in the sizes?

I would have to see them side by side to answer.

Like you said though... the 255's/75r17's will likely look taller and narrower since they actually are.

I know a 285/70r17 will fit without rubbing but Do you know if a 285/75r17 terra grappler with stock rims will fit without rubbing?
