4.6 instead of 5.4

Hello fellow ford enthusiast. I have a loud issue. 2000 Expedition eddie bauer with a 5.4 that is knocking.
I have a 99 grand marquis with a 4.6.
can i put the 4.6 from the grand marquis in the expedition, I have too much money in this expdition and dont want to spend 1000+ for a used 5.4 if i can use a 4.6 that I already have.
I know i will lose some power but i just want it to run well.

any input would be greatly appreicated.

With bolt ons and tuning a 4.6L is good. The trannies used 4R7XW and the E40D should all just "bolt up" to any MOD motor the major prob. may be the electronics and tuning I.E. o2 sensors MAF Throttle posistion etc. Look up the mustang Guys they do Amazing Swaps and rebuilds with the 4.6, I have a 1st gen with a 4.6, but I have well over 1K in it but I will not get rid of my '97!!
