'99 Expedition is making a grinding sound when driving. We took the vehicle in to get diagnosed, and the mechanic told me I needed to replace the front upper and lower ball joints, and front wheel bearings ($800 for parts and labor),
however we just had those replaced about a year ago. We brought the vehicle home. My husband raised the rear end of the vehicle and put it on drive. When pressing on the gas we noticed the noise is coming from the rear. I took my foot off the petal and the left rear wheel stops spinning and the rear right side wheel continues to spin. I put the vehicle on park and the rear tires had a lot of play. What could the problem be?
