Happy Holidays All!

I am having a heck of a time identifying a part that needs to be replaced on my Expy. I started leaking coolant a few days ago and finally found where the leak is occurring. The only problem is....I have no idea what the part is called and I cannot find any reference to it in Alldata or Chilton. I have attached pictures of it so that you can see it and hopefully can tell me what I need to be able to replace it.

The nipple that broke off is on a piece that looks to screw into the (assuming) exhaust manifold directly behind the alternator. It is a 5.4L Triton and any help would be wonderfully appreciated on this joyous holiday!

The image "broken nipple.jpg" is the actual piece that the nipple is broken on and the other photo is of the area where the part is located with the hose connected.

That should be an easy find from a walk-thru salvage yard. If not have your Ford Parts guy pull it up on his computer and point to it, I think they are only 25 bucks or so new. I can get you a Ford part number if you can't find one, let m know. Myself, I would just remove the adapter from the Intake Manifold and match the threads up with a straight nipple the same size as that hose and be done with it, good luck.

If you could provide me with the part number, that would be awesome. I do not have a Ford parts guy and of course, being Christmas, all the places are closed so I am trying to find a replacement that I could order and hopefully have ready for pickup in the morning when my brother gets off of work. If not, then I will contact Ford tomorrow and get a replacement.

Well, I am home today also but I will get you a part # tomorrow and post it here either way so you have it. Sorry I can not access my parts catalog from home, but I will get it for you.

That will work for me. Thank you so much for your help. Is there a name for that part or possibly what system it is part of and I will take another look in Alldata and see if I just missed it the two times I went through.

I think Ford just specifies it as "adapter" in the description. It really does nothing at all accept position that coolant hose off to the side a little. Like I said, if you can find a straight nipple to fit the hose and screw into the intake properly that would work fine also. Get back to you with the part # tomorrow.

If you can remove it cleanly, see if any hardware store is open today, I'll bet you can find a brass or copper replacement. Problem is pretty much everything is closed today.

I think that's the water pump bypass tube motorcraft 8555. Not 100% sure though.

Thank you so much! I did some more research using your part number as a starting point and found that while 8555 is not the part I need, it is actually Motorcraft KM4901. The only problem is, I am finding two different part numbers from Motorcraft, KM4901 and KM4390. This is fine but I cannot find what the difference is between the two, but a site has both listed as cross compatible. I need this before Sunday which I can do via Amazon if I order the KM4901. AutoZone and Advance show nothing looking up by part numbers or name and O'Reilys does not have any in stock for online ordering and no store within 100 miles has one in stock to pick up. I think I may just go ahead and order the KM4901 from Amazon for Saturday and keep my fingers crossed it is the right part.

The KM4390 (8597) is a straight nipple that the hose 8A505 connects to. The KM4901 appears to be the same part, although the picture on amazon is wrong. Hopefully it works for you.

Thank you for your help. I ended up going to the dealership today and having them order the right part from their system for a whopping $14.38. I will have it Monday, which is not the best, but it is the only option I have since Amazon cannot even have here tomorrow guaranteed. Thanks again everyone for your help with this!

Good morning everyone. I just wanted to let you know that I got the part in from Ford yesterday and got it installed. All is well now and the Expy is back on the road. Again, thank you all for your help!
