I just bought a 2000 Expedition, EB, 4X4. Heard these have great rear ends. I am wanting to get a programmer that will give an increased fuel economy but on the fly option for power as needed. Also what about any kind of headers and downstream exhaust? What seems to work best with the Ford engine? It came with K & N air filter already. Any other upgrades without opening up the heads that can increase fuel economy? This i going to progress to a tricked out 4X4 toy so I'm open to all ideas.

does it have K&N air filter only or is it the intake? if only the filter...do the gotts mod (search on site)...i believe the SCT or Edge programmers can adjust on fly...no clue on headers but check into flowmaster exhaust at your local shop

for programmers I love my edge.... can't really adjust them on the fly.... takes like 5-10 min to adjust the setting but I set mine to the way I like it... level 2 with shift firmness up 10% and leave it like that.... has helped me a lot....

for exhaust I did a rear cat delete... (pipe instead of cats) then cut factory Y and ran a true dual exhaust with flowmaster 40s.... also have a full K&N FIPK and throttle body spacer...

all this and I can still get mid 11's in the city and almost 14 on the highway.. and that is turning 37s

yes I have the whole intake the plastic one that K&N sells... but if you want performance rather than looks.... look into the "gotts mod" has been dyno'd to show it works and cost a couple bucks plus a drop in K&N filter...

I still have my stock injectors... probably wont ever change them unless I go with major motor mods like a supercharger... or if stock ones stop working I will just get new OEM ones

My engine has the filter that is open to the engine compartment.... The gotts mod seems a lot smarter once i read about it.

Seems i'm going to have to go back and find some old factory parts. The intake is modified back to the throttle body.
