Today, the ABS pump went out in my 2003 Expedition. I took it by the local shop guy (who I can actually TRUST) and he diagnosed. I called my dealer back home and talked to the shop foreman (who I also know and trust). Ford guy suggested taking out the fuse for the ABS system, therefore shutting down power to the pump. Local guy did that (I was enroute to an appointment). However, this didn't fix my problem. I am still having a sluggish engine and loud noises coming from the back area from time to time. It's not constant.
Ford guy also suggested disconnecting the ABS pump (it will take a couple of days for a new one to come in) so that I can drive with regular power brakes/not ABS of course.
Any thoughts on this? My 03 Exp. has 90k miles on it...and it replaced a '99.......so I'm a true Expedition fan!!!
Thanks for any insight on this!! I've got to get on the phone with Ford guy and find out exactly where ABS pump is located so that local guy can disconnect it for me. Don't want to take it to my local dealer....don't want to get "***** and robbed" in their service dept.
