He’s correct in my opinion. I’m not traipsing around for weeks to save a grand from one dealer to the next... my spare time is worth far more to me. I don’t mind paying for convenience when I feel that it’s worth it.

I agree but this is about what is a ‘good deal’ not ‘what am I happy with’.

I’ve paid 3% off before and been happy. I’ve paid 11% off and been happy. The 3% off was not a great deal but the most anyone was getting on that particular vehicle was 5% and I wasn’t going to waste my time to get a ‘great deal’ over 2%.

I bought my 19 FX4 with 100k ESP and 11k of upgrades for 64.4 plus 0% @ 72. I had been watching it for a little over 60 days and tried to make a deal when it first hit the dealership. They wanted 80k and some change, I walked and said y’all high. I reached back out as I watched the price kept dropping, went back and forth. Finally they caved, and said please take it off the lot. From the list price I got it 17k below asking and still 4.5 below sticker. From 1st negotiations, I got another 6.5k from then, plus 1500 more for my truck. So I think I scored.

My 2019 Platinum had a sticker of $80,530.
Final price was $72,200. That $8,330 is about 10% off of MSRP. This was May 2019.
Could I have gotten better? Maybe. Some others have claimed much better while others claimed not quite as good. But that's all they are is claims.
Reality is that rarity and desirability in your region can have a big impact on the actual sale prices.
I felt (still feel) very good about my deal. It took me three weeks of negotiating, and even battling three dealerships to get the best price. I did go with the middle one that was about $500 less than the higher, and $300 more than the lowest. Respect and good record for the service department was worth avoiding the cheap guys.

What were the $11,000.00 in upgrades - things such as paint sealant, VIN etching, seat stain guard, etc.?

Got my 19 Platinum 4x4 in Sept. for $69500, MSRP was $82,415. Dealer advertised discount to $76k. $2250 rebate, $1250 FMC cash, $3000 PCO. Total fees were $259. So about 15.7% off with rebates excluding fees and taxes. I also had to pay a $200 delivery charge, dealer was 130 miles away and they brought it to me and took the trade back.

Great deal. What metro area? I'm in eastern Washington / north Idaho area. There weren't but four Platinums within 200 miles at the time I got mine.

Black Friday Sale

Sticker = $78,440
Sales before taxes = $65,888

16% off sticker AND 0% financing for 72 months.

If I did not qualify for the 0%, I would have had an additional $2000 off, or $63,888 (18.6%)

I shopped dealerships online and over the phone before stepping on the lot. I had mine pre-negotiated and was in and out in less than 3 hours.
