Anything better on a 98 vs. 2001 ?

I bought the 98 XLT parts truck to replace the bumper, grill, a window and some lights on my 2001.

FIrst thing i noticed is the 98 bumper is taller with a lot more metal and a lot less plastic.

So that got me wondering if there might be other things that were downgraded between fist models years and the end of the gen 1.
