So the only thing that you want to do is to read codes?

Why not get a programmer like edge or hypertech that will read codes, display various live engine data and improve performance and fuel economy.

If you really want a pc solution, then just pick up a bluetooth obdII reader. You can get several different programs and even apps to link it to a pc or smartphone.

I'm also looking for a scanner myself. Are they easy to use? How do the bluetooth hookups work? Do I need software or does it come with the bluetooth device? Which one is user-friendly?

Got the Excelvan ELM327 v1.5 Bluetooth Mini Small Interface OBD2 Scanner Adapter Torque Android through Amazon.com, cost $14.28, shipping $5.05 and matched it up with Torque Pro (OBD 2 & Car) by Ian Hawkins (not sure , think it was abt. $5.00). Works great on LG Lucid. My nephew ( a mechanic) says that it gives more than their $600 scanner.
