Shouldn't be much more difficult than F150 ones, which use the basic instructions of leaving in 200* oven for 10 minutes, start seperating, restick in oven every so often to resoften sealant.

On the other hand, you could probably get some cheap OEM black headlights on ebay. I usually see them for 20-30 bucks (not including shipping) each.

Here's a couple:

etc. Just remember that on ebay, "03 Expedition headlight" and "2003 Expedition headlight" are two different search quarries. Go from 03-06 and 2003-2006, each year individually.

I personally like the black housings with the diamond cut clear lenses. You can get a set of GTO light covers and they are less of a hassle than spraying tint or VHT Nightshades on them. Have more of a risk of getting runs or not having enough or too much on it. The GTO covers are 100% goof up proof.

I split lights in this manner years ago for my WRX when a bulb cover popped off inside the housing. It sounds crazy, but the time in the over had no ill effects on the lights and the glue separated nicely. Once I was done I reassembled them then bound them together with strap clamps and put them BACK in the oven to reseal them. It worked perfectly.

Though I tend to agree that BUYING them right out of the gate is certainly the easiest way to go...
