So after searching and taking the advice from fellow forum members, I purchased a 1997 Expy XLT, 5.4 , 4X4, 135k miles. Paid $4,200. I drove 3 hours to see this expedition and was very please when i drove it. It is in very clean shape and runs very smooth. First thing I want to do is, get some bigger tires becus it sits kinda low. From reading on here, i think i can go with up to 33" and keep the stock suspension? Also need some shocks. What do you guys reccomend for shocks. I have Ranchos on my Bronco and love them. Anyways, I am very excited and really like this Expy. Its actually the wife's, so she thinks:D

My Expy is also considered the wife's truck. I piss around in my Intrepid most days, and she hauls the kids to School in our truck. When I met her she had an 88' Black Eddie Bauer Bronco and a 90' Mustang, so I had to marry her right away lol.

Looks like a nice Expedition. Treat it well.

i had a 10,000 credit limit on my card when i bought my expy....guy freaked out when i hustled him dwn and THEN....broke out with the credit card.....lol he insisted tax be paid by cash....lol i got over on my truck BIG TIME on price.

You have a nice Expy. Do you think with bigger tires it will raise it enough, i dont want it too high but at least enough to make it look like a 4x4:D
I also have a 95 Bronco with 351ci and a 67 Mustang thats having the engine built right now. I love Fords. Although i do drive a 03 Nissan Altima for work:p
I travel 4k miles a month, so I would be broke driving any other car.

Is it possible and cheap to swap from the airbag suspension to a regular suspension? Have any of you guys done this and how much did it cost?

yes, bigger tires will give it a more 4x4 look. you can also do just a 3" body lift to help out too. not too big but big enough to get it noticed. my truck is only a 4" susp lift.
