My truck started to have a sudden loss of power on the way to work the other day, then again on the way home and followed by Check Engine light. My cam phasers were only showing slight ticking noises and still do. I took it in the shop today and during road test VCT solenoids read fine, but they said cam phasers are bad. They wanted $2100+ without even replacing chains, so I am looking into doing it myself or having it done elsewhere.
Do you think it's worth chancing just replacing phasers or doing a Livernois lockout kit with tuner or should I do factory replacement kit with phasers,chains,tensioners,guides,
and oil pump?
My other question would be is if I go with the Livernois kit and tensioner fail ,what happens?
I know ultimately it's always best to do it all , but just thought I would see what experience says.
