How’d you get Ford to budge on this? They are playing hard ball to cover my cat that went out at 79,000 miles. Now that I’m at 81,000 (even though it was replaced), it’s getting even more difficult.

I had a rep tell me yesterday that it varies by state and I go, “Do you not understand what the word ‘Federal’ means?”

He didn’t like that.
Check your Warranty manual. It’s in there and every US car applies to 8 years and it 80k on cats. Call Ford corporate if the dealer won’t help.

Here is straight from my Warranty booklet and this is the online link,

The Federal Emissions warranty covers cats and several other emissions parts for 8 years and or 80,000 miles regardless of Warranty coverage so I wouldn’t mess with it and take it to the dealer. My bank 2 cat failed at 72k and was covered for a P430 cat efficiency code.
I had the exact same P0430 "catalyst system efficiency below threshold (bank 2)" code pop up this summer, super hot day sitting in a drive thru waiting. Cleared the code, drove 2 more months then popped up again while on a 90+ degree day while idling in a drive thru. My Lincoln dealer just verified that it needs a cat replacement, covered under emissions warranty. The cat is backordered though so will have to wait a bit. I have 72,500 mi on my '19.
