All this money invested in these. Why not go to Summit racing and get a pair for 80 bux and have an exhaust shop fab the pipes? Probably 500 bux or so to do it.

Because the aftermarket generics are trash. I've a good friend that had a local muffler shop here in San Fran, put on some cheap generic and it burned out less than two years later, and failed smog. He ended up doubling his original price on a better one, just to get it to pass emissions. We keep trying to teach you guys time and again, theirs a reason why an item is cheap. But everybody thinks theirs will be magic. It don't work that way, in case you weren't paying attention your mom and dad told you, when something's too good to be true, you know the rest. Not saying you've always got to buy dealer, but at least buy one of the better grade aftermarket. Can't tell you how many times we had to redo a job because of aftermarket parts. If your an individual that likes blowing hundreds and thousands at a casino, but doesn't want to buy a quality part for your baby, hope you like changing parts often.

So, I ended up buying the MagnaFlow direct fit. Everyone had them for $1,034 for the one I needed, but I found an individual selling one, new in the box, for $770 on Amazon. The Ford OEM was $1,400 at the cheapest. and only had a 1 year warranty. The MagnaFlow has a 5 year warranty.

Well their go, I do the same thing. Their always seems to be somebody out there that's dying to get rid of just the part you need. Let us know how it runs, and does with emissions when your done. Helps other readers with same problem.

I'm not sure what you guys did for the cheapo converter, but they have the Magnaflows and I purchased the flowmaster ones. Both are less than 100 bux each and come with a warranty. Like I said, there are more options than replacement OEM.

Well the great thing about this country, and our little forum is everyone can pretty much say what's on their mind. That being said, consider this. Will your $100.00 cheapie let you pass an emissions test at the time of install? Here in California that's a big issue. If you fail smog, you have to get your car smogged yearly not every other year, and more importantly will your $100.00 unit let you pass emissions4 years down the road. And what do you do with your so called warranty when it stops catalyting properly and your muffler shop has to wack into the pipe to weld another one in, the pipe won't make it, and you still have to pay labor, if not part of the part cost. I've been wrenching on cars and motorcycles for close to 50 years now, and I can count on one hand when a bargain part ever worked, or better still lasted. At my motorcycle shop, my three mechanics would not rebuild front forks on any of our 4 brands, without using the factory seals. Aftermarkets would leak like crazy. They were on commission not hourly, so a customer comeback would ruin their pay. Let us know if your flow masters make it 10 plus years like the factory ones. I'm betting they won't!

No, I just like poking at the bear! People are going to do as they wish, it's up to the individual. Our plan on this forum is to pass on wisdom to our members that need a little help. If you can have a little fun, that's what life's all about. I've been on this forum for about 2 years, and have been wrong on many occasions, that's the learning part. To be honest, I've only done minor things to my Expedition, but along with other vehicles I've worked on, or helped with for friends, customers, is where I get my experience. I've been getting dirty with cars for a long time.Like I've stated earlier, you can install whatever part you want, but past experience and reading all the different posts on this and other forums, forum members chase their tail, trying to figure out why they can't fix their vehicle. On this forum, you can't be upset by what another member comments to you, it's just their opinion.
